*Somerville could probably land a gig in Sacramento but he's still trying to figure out if he's dead meat now in the Bay Area.
*Come Jan. 28, the tagline by KTVU anchors, "In for Frank tonight..." will NOT be read.
*Frank is not even talking off the record so rest assured the loyahs have kidnapped him.*Interesting what could happen if Amber Eikel were to be fired by Fox. Could Frank suddenly re-emerge? Yeah, but not likely.
*Bill Martin wants out and keeps threatening to un-retire which ultimately means less airtime for Roberta Gonzales. Stay Bill, stay!
*Julie Haener: Q Rating going down faster than Chris Cuomo's 401K at CNN.
*One thing certain: Somerville definitely NOT going to KRON.
*If KTVU continues to surge in ratings other Bay Area TV news stations might suspend their own lead anchors. I'm kidding, but who knows.
*Mike Mibach 2-1 odds on replacing Somerville on 10 PM News, says a reliable source. We'll see.
It's been a long time edict that only Reporters or Anchors were allowed to sleep with interns at KTVU. First. Hand. Knowledge.
ReplyDeleteThis is so true: *If KTVU continues to surge in ratings other Bay Area TV news stations might suspend their own lead anchors. I'm kidding, but who knows. I have said it so many times...if the anchor can read is not incompetent, it is not matter. Here is Frank, the most recognizable name on local TV, the biggest, now gone, and look at the numbers. No change. Now, don't get me wrong, they do play a role, but one person is just a cog in a much larger machine.
ReplyDeleteI still say Frank would be perfect for KGO Radio if they are still here next year.
ReplyDeleteZero chance of that and a huge pay cut if it were to happen.
DeleteThey couldn't afford him.
Delete"...it's no coincidence that it was officially disbanded because of Frank Somerville."
ReplyDeleteMr. Vinyl Room had nothing to do with this???
"Somerville could probably land a gig in Sacramento but he's still trying to figure out if he's dead meat now in the Bay Area."
He's dead meat. That's a no-brainer.
"...the tagline by KTVU anchors, "In for Frank tonight..." will NOT be read."
That's not a tagline, by definition.
"Interesting what could happen if Amber Eikel were to be fired by Fox. Could Frank suddenly re-emerge? Yeah, but not likely."
No. Period. He defied superior orders and that's actionable, Eikel or not. He'd be toast anywhere.
"Bill Martin wants out and keeps threatening to un-retire which ultimately means less airtime for Roberta Gonzales. Stay Bill, stay!"
It's sad to watch him bumble through a hit like grandpa without his meds. Sometimes I wish he'd toss it to his cat. The cat would probably be more coherent.
"Mike Mibach 2-1 odds on replacing Somerville on 10 PM News, says a reliable source. We'll see."
If I were Andre Senior I'd be pissed. He should be the one to go to a rival station. Mibach has the charm of Walter Matthau with hemorrhoids.
"It's sad to watch him bumble through a hit like grandpa without his meds" - that's how I feel about our current Commander-in-Chief.
DeleteAgree on the Andre should be pissed comment 100%.
ReplyDeleteAnd also send Bill packing Roberta is a no go. Anybody with eyes and ears knows that spot should still be Kyla Grogan. Not a even close 2nd in the building. Also please god no Heather Holmes in primetime. All she does is stare at herself. They should definitely be considering Gasia for Julie's spot down the line above anyone else there. Andre-Gasia-Kyla-Ibanez. Now there's a damn good show.
I agree with all that. I don't get all the hate Gasia gets. She's doing a morning show, for crying out loud. It should be furrow-face Mibach who gets the grief. He always acts like he's reporting on a national emergency, even if the story is the opening of a new puppy shelter.
DeleteAndre and Heather on weekdays at 10 PM would be my preference.
Delete"Andre and Heather on weekdays at 10 PM would be my preference."
DeleteOne could do worse. In fact, right now, we are.
Main anchors: Andre Senior and Christina Rendon
ReplyDeleteWeather: Kyla, Mark T., Brian Hackney, someone from the outside--the rest are jokes
Mornings: Gasia and Anne Macovec. Turn it into a gab fest.
Weekends: Show Family Guy reruns.
So would it be correct that Frank Somerville's exit coincided with or perhaps caused a surge in KTVU's ratings? End of story.
ReplyDeleteThat's terrible if they really got rid of the intern program. Why should broadcasting students be deprived of an important program that is essential to getting hired for very competitive jobs? The instructors and professors at the local colleges should complain, along with students
ReplyDeleteTake a look at what they're putting on air lately. No need to intern. They'll just hire you right out of college with zero experience. Especially if you fit the demographic they need.
Delete"Take a look at what they're putting on air lately. No need to intern. They'll just hire you right out of college with zero experience. Especially if you fit the demographic they need."
DeleteYup. Although I'll admit there was briefly this awful black reporter who, while not a half-bad writer, delivered her material like someone straight out of Compton. She was there around the same time as Emma Goss. Both got the boot unceremoniously.
"Especially if you fit the demographic they need."
DeleteAin't that the truth...
Julie *gag* Heather *gag*
ReplyDeleteSome money is better than none...
ReplyDeleteBrent Cannon has a chance to take the top spot!!!
