Sara Donchey,a CBS LA anchor is KPIX's newest evening anchor. She'll start in Jan.
By all accounts, she has a great rep and news accumen chops. We'll see.
This looks and appears to be something far more pithy than your normal late year add. I'll know more pretty soon and fill you in.
Developing...
THATS WHAT IM TALKIN' ABOUT!
ReplyDeleteFinally a hiring based on merit, not race.
Well, she's not from Bakersfield, so that's a plus.
ReplyDeleteSo an upgraded VDLC?
ReplyDeleteWow! A step down from KCBS-TV to PIX? Okay, good luck to Sara.
ReplyDeleteAnd what about Ryan Yamamoto? I thought it was this month, instead of next month.
Who's she replacing, Bastida? I'm sure they didn't just hire an anchor because they felt the urge.
ReplyDeleteShe's easy on the eyes, that's for sure.
Quite the hottie!
ReplyDeleteWhat??? So this does appear to be interesting, since it figured that KPIX would get a male anchor to replace Bastida and work with Cook. So now what happens to Elizabeth Cook? I know they aren't going to put two female coanchors on there! This is a complete surprise Rich, and just goes to show WHY you are important resource here in the bay area! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteInteresting she is leaving LA for SF. I don’t think its the $$$ cause its the same CBS O&O company but maybe she is getting more of a promotion of being a weekday evening anchor here than in LA...

Just an observation, I just saw a photo of Anoushah Rasta (ex-KNTV) w/Sara Donchey. Apparently they know each other/ex-coworkers. Then I researched some and found out Anoushah R. now works in L.A., which must have occurred as I wasn't paying any attention to KNTV (channel 11). I'll likely tune to KPIX next month just to see Sara D., the new person.
ReplyDeleteWonder what she did to deserve assignment to KPIX? Did CBS tell her it would be in her own best interest to take the KPIX spot? I'm sorry but San Francisco is a backwater outpost compared to Los Angeles. It's kind of like moving from San Francisco to Fresno or Bakersfield for a better TV opportunity.
ReplyDeleteInteresting because in the last year, KCBS/KCAL in LA has laid off or let go many veterans including Sharon Tay, Sandra Mitchell, Stu Mandel, and now Sara Dochchey. I wonder about her husband, who is a reporter down here.
ReplyDeleteHow is her last name pronounced? Almost afraid to ask.
ReplyDeleteI watched a Youtube video and she pronounced her own name, something like, "DON" "CHEE".
Deletelooks like a great duo. Elizabeth Cook should consider mornings or something lighter. She never had the main anchor look or feel to me. I think this new pair will be the future.
ReplyDeleteAfter checking her out on Google images, I don't think the photo you used does her justice. This brunette has a lot going on. So PIX imports a blonde and a brunette. Nice. Channel 5 for many years has hired very attractive female anchors and some reporters.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like Sara and Elizabeth Cook were off the rest of this week for COVID concerns, so we want to thank Juliette Goodrich for filling in, along with Ryan Yamamoto and Allen Martin on KPIX 5, so, stay healthy, Juliette, Sara, and Liz.
