March '21 SF Radio Ratings; KCBS, 95.7 FM The Game, Weren't Invited to the Party

HERE'S THE NUMBERS

KGO: flatlines (again) but a modest bump

ALL-Sports 95.7 FM, "The Game" can't break a 1.0 if their life depended on it (time for another morning show) again

KSFO: Ouch, KCBS (big drop, just a blip or trend?)

KNBR: without the Giants /Niners...

As we allways point out, these are the beauty contest numbers and are not the ratings that the advertisers buy off of, but they do measure local terrestrial radio numbers for the month.

  1. Maybe Damon Bruce can start reading the SF School District Lunch Menu. Hot Dogs with tater tots was always my favorite.

  3. Rich, when you write about radio, most of the time your write about KCBS, KGO, KNBR, and sometimes KQED. But as the numbers show, there are a lot more stations in the 415 Media zone. So why not cover the others? You might find something new and interesting for us.

    1. I have suggested same a few times. Actually including Sacramento stations could be an option. I live in Concord, and get 1530 AM and 650 Am pretty clear. Tom Sullivan is on 1530 and he is a conservative syndicated host, although he started out in Sacramento. He is a reasonable conservative, although he was a close friend of Rush. I find him more balanced and he take calls from callers that disagree with him, so even though I lean more left I like his show and often listen. So yes I think Rich could expand his coverage and it would help his site.

    2. You've been pimping Tom Sullivan for years. He's still a bore, perfect for you.

    2. Yup. Bonta, Kate, Dibs, Damon, Kolsky, Ratto, Kovay . . . I don't understand why KNBR hired Mark Willard. He's all set up with no punchline.

  5. Based on the numbers, it would seem that people in the Bay Area aren't listening to talk radio anymore. And that would be about the talent, I'm guessing.

  6. March '21 Nielsen ratings show KGO in the bottom half of the 39 radio stations rated in the San Francisco Bay Area, #20 with a 1.8 share. What a far departure from the old days, it took lots of ineptitude to cause it to fall like that.

  7. If Cumulus was smart they will sell KGO radio to Disney...switch to sports (ESPN radio), lure A’s baseball and Sharks hockey. Cumulus just made a nice profit from the sell and that probably put an end to the demise of 95.7 and their management who does not seem to know how to run their sports station...

  8. How KQED gets such good ratings, I will never know. For the most part now it is a bore. Weekends are depressing and worthless. Hosts during the week are marginal.
