415 Media Exclusive: Scott Reiss KTVU Weekend Sports Anchor Among Major Cuts by Fox2; Senior Sports Producer, Lupetti Also Canned

Scott Reiss | KTVU FOX 2
Scott Reiss

I TOLD YOU that FOX was about to CUT and cut and cut at its O and O stations and that KTVU was on its hit list--tonight (Thursday) I will tell you FOX (KTVU2) has cut two major names in the biz, one on-air sports anchor and a veteran sports producer ...

I'VE LEARNED Scott Reiss and Pete Lupetti were let go by KTVU, the cuts are final and they are permanent.

Reiss, a fill-in sports anchor, was shown the door late last night; Lupetti a 38-year veteran sports producer who worked with Mark Ibanez was given walking papers early Wednesday.

Two other cuts: a special projects person and a senior producer ere also let go. More cuts are expected soon; I'll keep you updated.

  1. Revenge is sweet! Buhbye, buhbye, no really, buhbye!

Meanwhile, it looks like Heather Holmes has the hots for Mark Ibanez.

    1. Mark is old enough to be her father...I doubt it.

    2. It also looks like Mike Miback can't stand Gasia Mikaelian. You can see it on the air when they interact. She tries to engage him and he just looks down at his computer and doesn't give her a reaction. Not just a matter of "no chemistry." It's "anti-chemistry." Don't mix these two; they don't go together.

  2. Scott Reiss should be able to find another job at one of the Bay Area TV stations.

    1. Why do you say that? They're all overloaded with sports "talent" and sports, which used to be a big thing for local TV back in the day (the day Rich is always pining for) is now small potatoes.

  3. Hi Rich: I always like the work of Scott Reiss both while he was at ESPN & mostly recently KTVU 2. Nice Voice with a Good Solid Presentation unlike the Histrionics & Pregnant Pauses of the Wannabe Gary Radnich Clone Vern Glenn over at KPIX 5. If lead sportscaster Dennis O'Donnell is currently on shaky grounds instead of automatically promoting Vern Glenn to full-time sports anchor I like to see KPIX 5 instead hire Scott Reiss to take over from O'Donnell & leave Vern Glenn on weekends. Rich: I absolutely love your blog! Keep up your great work! Cary SF

    1. agree with Anon July 2 at 9:51 AM. Vern Glenn is painful to watch. Cannot watch his incessant mugging and melodramatic pauses before unleashing some supposedly profound observation or statement.

    2. Sorry guys but this is the "White" guilt era and Vern fits the mold as far as color and salary.

    3. Vern Glenn is an asset to KPIX. His sports reports are interesting, but he has a talent for other subjects and has done thorough, in-depth explorations of some very interesting topics. I think because he started off a little somewhat "out there," it resurfaces periodically to honor his beginnings. As time goes on, however, he has tended to drop that aspect of his reporting persona.

  5. Never fun to lose your job, but Scott Reiss wasn't that good. When he was an analyst for Sharks games, he seemed clueless about the sport.

  6. Reiss would be great for NBCSN Bay Area. He's already better than half the hosts on.

    1. And he was there before when it was called Comcast Sports Bay Area. I remember when he, Dave Benz, and Mychael Urban announced that the Giants were 2010 MLB World Champions.

  7. Please get rid of the weather anchor who Rosemary hates, the one in her late 30s or 40s but look like she is 60 years old who left KTVU and came back, she is so unattractive they should get rid of her

    1. She's the best one they have if you're talking about the one I think. But she never "left" KTVU before. I believe she was on the Weather Channel and in Vegas, but I'm not really sure, as I don't gots cable, nor do I want it.

    2. You mean the one who when she turns her head her air turns, too. Her hairspray budget must be astronomical. Looks like to allow for it she buys her short little dresses in the chidrens department. Clothes are way too small. I think your capcha as testing for alzeheimer's.

    3. I'd bet money this was written by a bitter 50 plus woman. Men aren't this stupid because that anchor is crazy hot LOL
Women are the WORST to each other and it's usually simple jealous bullcrap and raging insecurity. Sad man.

  8. Scot Reiss was great, that's a sad loss for KTVU. I really enjoyed his work.
