Two Reporters Worth Mentioning: KGO's Lyanne Melendez and KTVU's Allie Rasmus; KSFO's Sussman on Medical Leave

I'VE ALWAYS LIKED KGO Reporter, Lyanne Melendez, a General Assignment correspondent who does a terrific job on almost any event, incident, fire, whatever, you name it.

Hard to believe she began her Circle7 gig way back in 1994.

What I admire most is Melendez' ability to handle whatever assignment with complete ease, something very much lacking in the Bay Area TV News scene. In that respect, Melendez reminds me a lot of Rita Williams, KTVU's tenacious street reporter who retired in 2013. They're both solid on the air and command a ton of industry and viewer respect. Crisp, no-nonsense, very interesting and both are tremendous interviewers. Where Williams excelled in local politics, Melendez shows her chops on education. It's not a glamorous beat but she makes it cool to watch.

*Another favorite of mine Allie Rasmus continues her fine reporting and anchoring at KTVU. I have liked this veteran who is as steady as they come. Rasmus is not only good in the field but a force on the anchor desk too. I'd love to see more of her on KTVU's multiple newscasts.

*CLARIFICATION: Brian Sussman is on medical leave. The KSFO morning host has been away from the mic --wish him well.

  3. Spot on with Allie Rasmus. Always a smooth, unrattled delivery.
She has to be the most versatile newsperson in the Bay Area.I have seen her anchor, work the field, man the traffic desk, and
    do the weather.

  4. What happened to the good old days when local department stores “ dressed” TV Anchors for a plug at the end of the broadcast? Other than Rosemarie Orasco none of these people have a clue what goes together. Even butt boy Regie looks like he shops at Goodwill. Gasia always looks like she slept in her clothes and then didn’t bathe. Daria is the only person keeping Forever 21 in business, too bad she is 30 years to old for their fashions. What about the guys in their scuffed shoes that don’t go either their suits? Knowing they have jeans and flip flops on under the desk makes does not lead to credibility either.

  5. I wonder how long it will take Channel 7’s latest hood rat Jobina to decide to just rap all her reports? Not long I’d guess.
