IT WAS 'CLOSE'; 'Larry was in real trouble'; newsroom on edge over Beil food-poisoning incident.

The other day I told you about the fact that KGO news anchor, Dan Ashley had to do the evening sports segment because, "Larry is under the weather."

TURNS OUT, Larry Beil was more than just under the weather. A very frightening food-poisoning incident was more serious then first diagnosed.

Beil went to have what he thought was a normal lunchtime sandwich earlier in the week and headed back to KGO studios on Front Street and within an hour began experiencing terrible stomach pain. Pain so excruciating that a doctor was called and administered all sorts of tests and aid before it was determined Beil had endured a serious case of food poisoning, enough of a freak-out that led him to miss the evening sports reports.

He eventually recovered and was back at work the next day but by no means was this your typical innocuous bad stomach. More than that. Enough to scare most of the staff at ABC7.

    1. Must be a KRON po' boy sandwich.
No wonder we ran out of 2-ply in the restroom.

  6. Rich, you're a journalist, but you've given us only the 'who' and the 'when'. What about the 'what' (he ate) and the 'where' (he ate it)? Inquiring minds might want to avoid the joint.

  7. Did Shumann send that sandwich over?

There is no escape when you have Tummy Troubles.

  9. Is his lunch routine very well known at the TV studio?
Was somebody paid to give him that particular serving?
Funny how nobody else got sick that day, only him.
Things that make you go hmmmm!

  10. There is nothing amusing about food poisoning, but all the sturm and drang over this particular case of a common, uncomfortable ailment is funny. You mock women who have endured nine months of discomfort and many hours of gut splitting agony to reproduce, but are grief stricken when describing a bad sammie and a brief bout of quickly resolved tummy pain, when the victim is male.
