Ashley Anchors Rare KGO-TV Sports Segment; Beil Under Weather; Where were KGO's 3 Other Anchors? Tuesday Open

Dan Ashley handled it like the pro he is; that's not the issue here, this is.

To wit: last night (Monday) on KGO's News, Ashley did the sports saying regular sports anchor, Larry Beil, was "under the weather." OK, it happens.

My question: where were KGO's three other sports anchors? Shows you how management feels about some of its air talent.

    Noticed that Veronica Dela Cruz was back on KPIX 5 6pm news..where has she been??

    People get sick at unexpected times, and you can't predict when it's going to happen and have an understudy sitting around just in case. Beil probably felt ill during his shift, and Ashley covered for him. If they (KGO7) had more advance notice, they'd undoubtedly have covered him with Mindy or one of the other weekenders.

    Ashley's already sitting in front of the camera so he's the quick solution. Since he's a pro he just rolls with the assignments, whatever they are.

    Some on-air folks can pinch-hit when they need to. I've seen KTVU's Rosemary Orozco doing the regular news on weekends on occasion.
