MONDAY FIRST START
NBC Sports Bay Area's 49ers' pre and post-game host, Greg Papa will have body shields around him Thursday Night at the Raiders-49ers game; why? He asked upper mgt. staff at Comcast to employ extra personnel near the sideline to keep him away from Raiders owner, Mark Davis.
It's not that Papa expects the pair to go at it and box just that Papa doesn't want to look at Davis and Davis probably doesn't want to see Pop. By the way, as we meet, Papa's divorce with ex-Raiderette, Angela Garay, is going to cost him dearly. The Danville house he (Papa) used to own is el gonno and that's the easy part. No wonder he needs the extra work.
*The alleged "news" program on KSFO Morning Show Monday? The host didn't mention at the top the horrific Pittsburgh synagogue mass-shooting which should tell you Brian Sussman is no serious news guy and KSFO is a non-compelling joke. In addition, Sussman's cackling female sidekick is beyond embarrassing and makes him sound bearable, I'll tell ya.
*KRON newsroom Sunday Night: more unexpected inspection by one of the higher-ups who, this time, didn't make himself noticed. How did I know? Oh, the loyal spies are still in the mix here.
*We didn't get nearly enough paid subscribers to 415 Media; for now we carry on and have a plan to go on at least forever or until the patio ads disappear from KRON's air.
*If what I hear is credible; that the "new" KGO Radio will essentially dump the weekend and concentrate on Monday through Friday, what happens if something profound and newsy takes place on a Saturday or Sunday?
Ted Robinson (l) and Tim Ryan |
*There's nothing wrong, obviously, when a woman is placed on an AM radio sports show, morning show, whatever ...but when the said woman adds ZERO to the broadcast; is consistently TALKED OVER by the two nitwits; when there is so much NOISE that you can't listen at all to the zoo, well you have a problem.
*Satellite radio? Overpriced, overrated. I'm not into golden oldies or Cousin Brucie in stereo --besides I can get that on the Internet gratis. You're better off send me the dough.
Heather Holmes |
*Word on the street: the power couple lunch at Original Joe's last week involving a CBS exec and his wife on 855 Battery, was not concentrated on the spaghetti and meatballs if you know what I mean.
KPIX is about to undergo a regime change but not the one you're thinking of; radical? More then that.
Specifics? Just watch baby. November Sweeps is coming.
Not sure about Mark Davis, but Papa is NOT a fighter. I think
ReplyDeleteMark will carry him a bit but win by TKO in 3.
Tim Ryan ripping the home team when merited? Good for him!
ReplyDeleteKruk and Kuip should take note
amen, brother
DeleteKruk and Kuip are a couple of schmucks. After every game during their recap, Kuip is eating and munching on nuts liked some starved monkey. The man is disgusting.
DeleteLOL, 3:27. And as for Holmes, I thought she was a Texas native. I guess her vampy figure would never cut it in the Lone Star State.
ReplyDeleteHH = 10. Best thing Haener has done lately is have her son (UDub backup QB) throw a game winning interception to CAL LB Weaver.
ReplyDeleteI hope her son recovers to have a great career, but for now, GO BEARS!
Rich, you wish Bonnie-Jill would look your way.
ReplyDeleteDo a little research before ripping. Best known for her modeling, work in television (Baywatch) and radio as a sportscaster, she was the first female player scout in the NBA for the Los Angeles Lakers. She was also one of the two assistant general managers of the Lakers' developmental team, the Los Angeles D-Fenders. She also was a former NFL cheerleader for the 49ers and Cowboys as well as a cheerleader for the Golden State Warriors. The list goes on and on.
I can't remember who it was but just a few weeks ago a sports celebrity (someone you'd recognize) called in to Murph and Mac for an interview because Bonnie asked him to. He apparently knew Bonnie as a toddler. Murph and Mac were downright giddy to talk to him. Yea, she adds nothing. If anything, she's UNDERemployed.
Damon Bruce used to have Bonnie Jill on sometimes back when he was on KNBR 1050. I had no idea she now works for KNBR. Might have to check her out next time I listen to KNBR 680 in the mornings.
DeleteRe: "the "new" KGO Radio will essentially dump the weekend and concentrate on Monday through Friday, what happens if something profound and newsy takes place on a Saturday or Sunday?"
ReplyDeleteSat and Sun is the least of KGO's management worries. KGO is at the bottom of the heap at present, so any improvement is better than the current state of affairs. I expect Mr Swqanson is saying to himself "one step at a time". For example if Mr Swanson could simply make the 6 am-noon M-F segment listenable, that would be a huge improvement.
Hey Rich, maybe your KTVU spies can answer the simple question of why their body mikes are always defective. They buzz and make static and make the anchors almost impossible to hear. This isn't cutting-edge technology; they've had body mikes for 25 years at least.
ReplyDeleteRich, satellite radio is the way to go and well worth the price. The weekday programming on Progress, channel 127 is just what I want to hear. All our vehicles have satellite and I can listen on the computers here at home. Maybe if KGO gets their shit together I will listen to a little Bay Area local radio again.
ReplyDeleteGive HH whatever she wants. She is smoking.
ReplyDeletehaha. I'm not going to lie. She does look pretty hot. Where does Rich get these shots of her from? Might not be able to look at her the same when I see her on TV now. LOL.
DeleteMan, what would it take to go out on a date with her? haha
Where does he get Heather's shots from? Just click on them to find out! She's a media whore. She spends most of her free time photographing herself and posting it to social media. I'm rather surprised she never became a porn star.
DeleteCome on Rich, don’t be so cheap. You got 24 hour commercial free Elvis, Dead and E Street Radio. This is the only place you can this music.
ReplyDeleteI concur concerning Robinson; top notch announcer, and seems like a really decent guy.
ReplyDeletePerhaps working with Hank Greenwald helped to hone Ted's ability to broadcast well for a bad team. BTW, I haven't read anything about Hank in this blog after his death. He was a longtime presence in Bay Area media.
DeleteLove me some Heather Holmes. Like Gary, Rich is more into the Phylicia Rashad types. Just sayin...
ReplyDeleteTwo old ugly white guys trying to be cool.
DeleteRegarding Greg Papa and Mark Davis, it will be interesting to see if they somehow run into each other at Levi's on Thursday night. If they do, it definitely will be awkward I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteI'll try to check out the postgame show and see if there will be extra security around Greg Papa, Donte Whitner, and Jeff Garcia. LOL.
Donte Whitner is a star. Let's hope he doesn't become predictable or cliched.
DeleteI agree with you about the KSFO morning show. Sussman, and the two women are really annoying. I listened to them for a few years, but recently switched to Armstrong and Getty, at least they can be funny at times. Can’t take Murph and Mac either. They remind me of two gen-x guys who can’t believe they are 50 yrs old now, not some smart ass 30 somethings. Doesn’t really matter though, at 9:06am it’s time for Rush!
ReplyDeleteThis man gets it! Agreed on all points.
DeleteSatellite radio is neither overpriced or overrated. $15 a month and I don't hear any commercials and I get a huge selection of channels, a lot of which turn me on to new artists. Plus I get sports radio like NHL Radio which is fantastic since bay area sports radio never talks about hockey. Terrestrial radio plays it too safe and rarely breaks new music, has too many commercials, and a vast majority of the on-air talent is painful to listen to.
