5 Things You Need To Know Today; Schulman The Chronicle Bull; A Five Percenter Factoid; Warriors' Barnett Not That Friendly; Luckoff Truly Evil; KQED Radio's Krasny Not So Nice Either; Tuesday Quick Happy Hour

Image result for Hot Five Things 1. IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY the Chronicle's Giants' beat writer, Hank Schulman, plays wussy and will never rip El Capitan, Larry Baer, it's because ole Larry makes sure Henry gets prime space in the Press Box at AT&T Park; has a special "VIP" lunch in the press room while the civilians have jelly sandwiches. Schulman the eternal asshole and grouch once went to Larry to complain about a writer from Houston talking a little loud. Instead of going over to the guy and talking it over, he had him thrown out of the box (He was later let back in)

Schulman thinks his shit doesn't stink and that he was put on Earth to save mankind. His ego is bigger then his head which is pretty big. He acts as if he's more important than God if there is a god only Hank is greater because he writes like a shill and is Larry Baer's bitch. Sorry, but these things need to get out. #Basta.

2. KNBR (Cumulus) owns about 5% of the Giants so if you're looking for objective reporting and real honest-to-God criticism of the Gigantes you might as well tune to the FM station --wait a minute.

3. Jim Barnett: pretty damn good color analyst on Warriors' TV broadcasts: off the court, uh, there's too much to talk about but I can tell you his scowl at some people is coarse enough to reach Emeryville from Oracle. Hey Jim, those stories about the NY road trips are hilarious and that's being nice. Barnett deserves some after-dinner mints.

4. Mickey Luckoff had a fallout from longtime KGO friend/ associate, Jack Swanson, who like Mickey, was a lifer at the old station. Luckoff, perhaps the absolute worst, most hating, obnoxious, asshole on the planet makes Ronn Owens look like Peter Pan.

5. Michael Krasny, the veteran KQED Radio host of "Forum" has a wonderful, friendly, esoteric persona on the air; off the air, he's quite the boor and intimidating. I know first hand. He can be cool as long as he likes you; make him feel vulnerable and/or he perceives you as a threat, there's a scary, bizarre, hating pose that hits you like a jolt of lightning. One scary ass man. Have some milk and cookies Mike, every now and then.

  1. I've met Jim Barnett 4-5 times, even played basketball with him at the Oakland Athletic Club years ago, he's a very nice guy who acts exactly as he does on the air, no phoniness or arrogance at all.

On Schulman and pretty much every Chron sportswriter, I think it's common knowledge they are now simply propagandists for the Giants, no journalistic integrity at all, especially Bruce Jenkins, who wouldn't dream of offending the Giants, but he sure does love bashing the A's and their fans.

  2. I ran into Jim Barnett about five years ago at Original Joe's and he couldn't have been nicer; had a great conversation about all things basketball.

  3. Although I am not a big fan of Larry Krueger, he at least has seen this current incarnation of the Giants for what it is. Hot garbage. And the weeny send of for Pence, after a thorough ass beating by the Dodgers. And he tried to have a go at Schulman and the company line. Schuls would have not of it, and defended Baer/Giants brass to the t. His writing has always been company line stuff. I find it comical and amusing, like the funnies. He loves to defend his crappy takes on Twitter. I think he knows his shit stinks. But the $$$ must be decent. And the buffet's at AT&T aren't too bad either.

  4. Wow! Interesting insight on Henry Schulman.
But we are not surprised. I think most us suspected this behind the scenes behavior from Schulman.
And the Chronicle management wonders why they are the targets of so much online criticism.

  5. Rich Lieberman's hatred toward Hank Schulman is pathological. This is supposed to be informed commentary, not insane ranting.

  6. Couldn't agree more! Now that Ronnnn is out of the picture Richie need something to focus all his jealousy and hatred toward, and surprise it is anything Giant related... the team, Larry Baer, the announcers, the sporting green, knbr, etc. Is Rich painting his face in support of the Oakland A's? Nope, he.s just so green with envy its coming through his pores!

  7. 1. Since Cooper took over the Chron, that's when Schulman became RL-unfriendly. Coincidence?
    2. What if the Giants' board ordered Lockstep to not only demand on field changes but broadcasting changes, which includes anything 5% Knibber has that offends the board? Not convinced that the Giants Board who Larry Baer reports to is big on the Tricky Dickeys.
    3. Only because the Warriors have Oakland's best dynasty in 44 years is Barnett still an analyst. Me thinks if the team was winning a lot less that he may have been shown the door 2-3 years ago.
    4. For someone so unlikable among Bay Media elite, Luckoff sure earned a lot of respect for a 3-decade period.
    5. You mean if the Hairpiece were a lefty he would be Krasny?

  8. Your invocation of Michael Krasny made me laugh rich. I'm a big fan of Forum. But during the recent Kavanaugh crisis it struck me that Michael was a little discombobulated. Everybody was of course. But it's fun to know even the almost always calm and collected Michael can get that way too .. lol ..
