Shumann Piece Coming

Image result for Putting the foot on th brakes images I'M HOLDING BACK a few days on writing the Shumann piece.

I talked to one of his reps and have expressed a desire to talk to him directly here and ask his some questions he can answer so we're going that route.

Be patient. I'm working hard on this because so much needs to get out.

Hopefully we will shed new light on the situation and get some information out that has been vacant from the record.

Until now at 415 Media.

Talk soon.

  1. Jeez Rich, you mean you didn't talk to him or his "reps" before announcing a big story is coming about how Shumann was railroaded and you're going to give details? Shoddy journalism at best, you need to do better for the sake of your own credibility.

    1. I have.
      Be patient.
And don't be so judgmental … you'll hear from the man himself.

    2. Fair enough, I give you credit for showing my post and your reply.

  2. Thanks for keeping up on this Rich. The Warriors should be ashamed of themselves for ruining a man's reputation over what appears to be a big misunderstanding. Would like to hear from Shumann directly about what really happened.

  3. The questions to Shumann seems pretty simple: Did he try to return the jacket immediately and if so to whom? Then validate his answer with the "to whom". If he tried to return it immediately I'll cut him slack. If he didn't try to return it, or waited until he was "caught", then the reasons no longer matter and its hard to argue his firing given his position.

    1. There's clarity on this Brian as the jacket was returned that night.

I'll be more specific and lengthier later.

  4. That is reasonable. We can wait.

  5. Rich,

You're telling someone else not to be judgemental.

    I'm still laughing.

  6. Interesting development today: AP reports that Warriors security chief Ralph Walker (who owned the jacket Shumann is accused of taking) left the team today to “spend more time with his family.”

  7. I dunno, man....it seems Shuman only said he planned on returning the jacket after he was caught. Over the weekend while arriving to some tennis courts with my wife, I noticed a $250 Wilson Pro Staff racket laying by one of the nets. I went to pick it up...and immediately started looking around for the owner. I didn't stash it in my bag--I physically started looking around...first by scanning the other courts, and then walking around with it, hoping someone would see it. As I walked by the parking lot, a lady came bolting out of her car (a Porsche) and ran towards me. SHe was SO GRATEFUL that I found it (she left it, she said, because she was on her iPhone while walking away from the court).

On the video, Shu didn't look like he made any effort to look around. He casually stuffed the jacket in his duffle bag...and walked out.

    1. Good point by 7:43 am.
The manner in which Mike Shuman walk off the court with the coat in his hands was rather questionable.
No effort was made to look around and search for the owner.
That is how it came across on the video.

    2. He didn't stuff it in his bag. He carried it. Look at video

  8. Rich, this might be connected between a rejected suitor ( in upper newsroom... married manager ) and Shu. Good hunting.

  10. The facts...1. The video, 2. poor discretion on his part even if it was only a joke, 3. Not the most popular guy and 4. They can cut cost with lower salaried replacement. Slam dunk (pun intended) case of termination.

  11. "Don't do something good that makes you look bad". I was always told that.
He got caught with his hand in the cookie jar - pain and simple. Spin it as you want....

  12. "Shumann Piece Coming" lol if he's so innocent there would be plenty of evidence and it would be displayed immediately. Keep fabricating so when you present your theory, maybe someone will believe you.

  13. Rich, can't wait for your story. Here's something to think about, though I will admit it's 100% speculation.

Ralph Walker, the Warriors head of security who owned the jacket, "retired" yesterday, saying he wants to spend more time with his family.

The phrase "wants to spend more time with family" in a press release usually means the guy was fired and doesn't have another job lined up. PR people have been using that line for years.

Let's say Shumann was railroaded. I'm waiting for your evidence, but assuming that is true ...

When he leaves ABC7, he gets some money in exchange for signing a separation agreement. The agreement probably says that both he and the station will keep silent about the reason why he's been canned. And by signing the agreement, Shumann promises not to sue ABC7, Disney or anybody who works there.

OK, but what about the Warriors? If Shumann was railroaded, it was probably because of pressure by the Warriors. That is what lawyers call "tortious interference," meddling in somebody else's contractual relationship.

So maybe Shumann doesn't sue ABC7/Disney and instead goes after the Warriors for interfering with his employment contract?

For the Warriors, this could be a nightmare. First, they've got deep pockets to protect -- Lacob and Gruber are billionaires. And Shumann has potentially big damages -- loss of a job, loss of reputation, etc.

If he sues, he's entitled to discovery, which means he gets everything the Warriors have on this incident -- emails, texts, notes by investigators, etc. Imagine if there were racist comments made against Shumann by highly paid Warriors employees of a different race? That could end the Warriors goodwill in a hurry. This could get ugly and expensive for the Warriors.

Now what if the Warriors have already figured out that Shumann is probably going to sue them. So they already started an investigation by outside counsel. And what if they found old Ralphie boy had done something horrible to frame Shumann? Well, they can't sit on that information and not discipline him. That would look bad at trial. So they move quickly to show Ralph the door, enabling him to spend more time with his family of course.

As I said, this is all speculation. But if this goes to court, I don't think the defendant will be ABC7/Disney. I think the defendant will be the Warriors.

Oh, one more thing that discovery might clear up -- who leaked the tape to the media initially, just hours after it happened? Was it somebody on the Warriors who wanted to frame Shumann (again, assuming he was railroaded and not a kleptomaniac)? What did the journalist who got the video exchange for that scoop? All that kind of stuff will come out during discovery. It won't be pretty for the Warriors.

My guess is that Shumann can easily find any number of good lawyers who will do this case on a contingent fee basis.

  14. thought security guy leaving who had shuman jacket was a ex cop anyway-cops lie on police reports based on race. so cops worse than lifting a jacket----ah, but notice, draymond green is being crirticized for visiting Israel officials.so dray and warriors security guy are ,number one, security guy was a cop and cops are corrupt and dray critiqued for shilling with Israel. so shumann jacket thing is like they say, a distraction for increasing jingoism America. what about draymonds crotch photo. shumann worse than that? what ELSE do privileged people ''get away with''?.

  16. Rich - thank you for con't to follow. I thought this whole story was weird from the get-go. Never passed the smell test that a)the jacket was "stolen", b)a 24 yr employee was fired so quickly, c)the rumors emerging of "issues" between players and Shuman and now the Security Chief whose jacket was supposedly "stolen" is resigning. Also think it is odd in GSW land their physical performance/PT guru is de-camping for Atlanta for what has been reported as essentially the same job. Maybe all is not as it appears in warrior-land

  17. Looking forward to your piece on revisionist history. Kind of like how you said that your site was "hacked" when you posted a nude picture of Robin Winston (which was on your hard drive, not hacked). I still have the screen shot and source of that picture.
