I don't care. Lost 15 aviators from my Navy squadron during the Vietnam war, 12 are still missing in action. When they kneel I think of the 58,000, average age 19 who died violently during the war, what would they think?
All the respect I have for the NFL and their players has been greatly diminished...when they kneel I see Jane Hanoi Fonda.
What were you doing when you were 19?
I don't care, good riddance. I know they try to win but all I see are a bunch of losers!!
Judging from your dumb comment, I wonder which side you were fighting on--the Communist dictatorship or the U.S. which was built on freedom of expression? Seems you like dictatorships and you miss the point of the protest in your selfish, oblivious, privileged small world.
KCBS and 95.7 are both owned by Entercom. It's no different than if the Giants went from KNBR back to KSFO. Those stations are Cumulus owned. Means nothing
Viet Vet @7:40 I doubt the young dead men and women of that horrible unjust war would care. Kneeling used to be considered a sign of respect in many places, suddenly it somehow becomes an affront to "the flag" or somehow unpatriotic. I remember when putting the red-white-blue on clothing was considered sacrilegious. When folks thought if you expressed your feelings about what our country was doing in our name by burning the flag [or your draft card] you should be executed [maybe some still do think that]. Ever watch how many people actually sing the anthem, put down their damn phones, stop ordering food, put down their drinks or just shut the hell up out of respect? Kneeling is respect IMHO -- now if we can just get others to show respect at the games during the anthem singing we'll be moving in the right direction. Well, maybe not until we can get people off their duffs and VOTE -- now THAT would be a real sign of patriotism !
"It's no different than if the Giants went from KNBR back to KSFO." Actually that would be VERY different as far as ratings are concerned. But in this case one of the top stations in the market will be giving up its programming to at least 6 hours of football once a week.
7:40 II am so sorry for the loss of your aviator buddies in 'Nam. I lost my uncle during the Tet Offensive. As an 8-year old boy back then, i was very close to him My dad was hit hard by his loss--they were close. His loss is still an open, raw sore for my dad today.
BUT...
My uncle would've told you today...and my dad (27-year retired navy E-8) will tell you today...that they enlisted to serve and defend our country--and our country's freedoms....one of which is Freedom of Speech/Expression. My dad does not appreciate the kneelers...but he respects their right to freedom of speech. MY dad is a HUGE Raiders fan--and does not have a problem with the Kneelers ("Hell--as long as they score---or intercept---I don't give a rat's ass what they do during the anthem).
MY dad has a BIG problem with Vietnam War draft-dodgers....and also with fans who are standing in line buying beer and hot dogs during the playing of the Anthem--and turn around and vent their anger at players "disrespecting" the Anthem (He calls the fans "A bunch of Goddamn Hypocrites! Can't you wait until AFTER the Goddamn anthem...to buy your GOddamn beer???")
My dad is very proud of his military service...proud that he was willing to raise his right hand to swear to defend and protect our country. ..proud that he defended our Freedom of Speech.
I am very proud of my dad...and proud of my uncle.
8:17 - Bravo, and I might add that our current POTUS, who hates the "kneelers" and basically wants them out of the NFL, was himself a person who used phony medical deferments "bone spurs" 4-5 times to avoid the draft, to me that's the same as a draft dodger.
I think I'm like your dad, kneeling isn't the way I would do it, and I don't really like it, but I respect their right to do it regardless.
Why you so down on Brent Musburger? If he can do the job, then why not? We're talking one three-plus hour broadcast a week. He's got a color analyst and a spotter. He can carry a conversation with his audience. He'll fly charter to the road games. What's the problem?
Looks like the Raiders are going after a name. That's why Brent is doing the games. And besides, age is just a number.
As for KCBS, you should be thrilled. That means a few hours a week where people don't have to hear the same old shit repeated every hour at least on one station. And it's a better signal as opposed to the obscure 95.7 We Ain't Got No Game.
Yea age is just a number, bring back Willie Mays or Joe Montana and see how they do. Brent should have retired a long time ago, doesn't have it any more. The Raiders could have done better.
Touchdown!!!!..... Doormats!!!!!..... The Vegas Doormats, Sellouts... KCBS and the Corporates should have NEVER scarred the news reputation with this soon-to-be-gone (lack of) organization on the airwaves. Adios, Silver and Black... maybe KCBS should be reporting on how the 49er-backing Bank of America funded the stadium in Vegas so the Raiders could become Traitors. Very convenient!!
I don't care that they're moving to Vegas. Left them for good when Al moved to LA so I sure don't care which network carries their broadcasts.

Delete@7:40 Do you have any idea WHY the players are kneeling?
DeleteA sign of a bad protest is when people don’t know what you’re protesting about.
DeleteNope, I almost never listen on the radio anyway...

ReplyDeleteWho are the raiders.
ReplyDeleteGood question!
DeleteI think it means that when big news breaks on a Sunday and you tune to KCBS to find out what's going on you'll hear a football game in Las Vegas.
ReplyDeleteRich may not care now, but when the shit hits the fan, he will. And we'll read about it.

More punishment by Prince Valliant on Papa’s station for that show on 2015.

Better a strong signal at KCBS, than a mickey mouse FM operation out of Frisco.
ReplyDeleteA signal that won't reach Burlingame.
Nor most of the North Bay
ReplyDeleteFirst Greg Papa, now this?????
