Sussman and Green Act Irresponsible on KSFO Morning Show; Speculation on Nia Wilson Murder Case as Possible 'Gang Hit' Shows No Respect for Victim and Family (AUDIO)

YOU'VE ALL BY NOW HEARD about the senseless murder of an 18 year-old woman at the MacArthur  BART station Sunday night.

Nia Wilson was stabbed to death and her sister was also attacked but survived.

A suspect was apprehended days later.

On their KSFO Morning Show on Tuesday , Brian Sussman and Katie Green act irresponsible and become home-grown detectives --as if they're experts and clearly they're not.

In the show's second hour, Sussman talks about the incident and says "there's more to this" and makes light of what he calls "gang pictures" of Ms. Wilson, the young lady who essentially bled to death.

(AUDIO) At around 14: 45 of the tape, (SECOND HOUR 6AM) you can hear both Sussman and Green insinuate that maybe Green was an intended target because of her "gang signs on social media"; this despite police saying the stabbing appeared that of a random attack by some nutjob who has a lengthy rap sheet. (I'm not using his name)

The discussion; the rambling by Sussman and Green show a total disregard for Nia Wilson and her grief-stricken family, at best. At worse, the armchair analysis insinuates that perhaps because she's seen in pictures with a cell phone case that looks like a gun, maybe she (Wilson) had it coming. That's clearly inferred in the tape. Just listen and by the way, several e-mails from readers suggest the same conclusion.

I asked a lawyer about this on-air hijinks and he said if the Wilson family listens to this that they'd have a "great" case against KSFO and Cumulus. Sussman should know better. An 18 year-old stabbing victim hasn't even been buried and he conducts this crap-fest on the radio.

  1. Thanks Rich, I'm glad you are doing a story in this. I mentioned it in an earlier post. I heard when I was just waking up couldn't believe it. Actually I take that back, coming from those 2, who did the same to the Seth Rich story I could believe it. What ever happen to the conservative mantra, don't blame the victim, which is not really a conservative mantra, more like common sense. I guess if it improves rating or the victim is likely to be liberal then it is okay. Except an 18 year old girl, probably don't have that much of a political bend, at least not a serious one. I hope there is backlash and the family at least demands an on air apology. I wouldn't hurt to contact Cumulus management.

AGREED! But you have to know that this is the Conservatives M.O.?! Whenever a African American Individual is Murdered the 1st thing that they do is go to the Victims FB Page. Then they proceed to post a photo of the victim in a compromising position?! Just to say that they Deserved to be Murdered because look, they are holding a Gun, throwing up Gang Signs, or Smoking Weed?!

I have seen these instances done over & over done by Conservatives. They did it to Trayvon Martin, and also to the Gold Star Widow of La David Johnson, the Black Young Man who was killed in an Ambush in Niger. Conservatives actually posted photos of the Gold Star Widow Myeshia, whose Husband had lost his life serving this County, & who at the time was Pregnant?! Utterly Pathetic...

  2. Was that the same lawyer you squealed to about A&G's Tonight Show song intro? They got it back you loser.

Why should we believe the police when they state anything? You know how many murders in S.F. get listed as suicides so the P.D. doesn't look bad?

How the hell could Bart police proclaim the murder a random act so soon after the incident?

Suss is a bore, but he's not out of line here because you're implying anyone incredulous to official statements from known liars as out of bounds with their perception. Nothing could be further from the truth.

  3. It was a horrific, senseless act of violence by a lunatic. I understand the speculation of gang affiliation as there were several pictures on her Social Media posing with guns and displaying gang signs which have since been taken down. Her family has to know this. Teens take foolish pictures for attention, but the reality is Folks will form an opinion of you based on those pictures Very sad. She had her entire life ahead of her. As the Mom of three girls I cannot even imagine. Prayers to the Wilson Family and May Nia rest in Peace.

  4. A&G has not used the Tonight show intro for years, possible because Ed McMann died. My point was, and Rich's as well I believe, you don't go on the air insinuating something fishy about the victim, when it is so soon after she died, and no one has been able to gather all the facts. It might be police was a little hasty in proclaiming the murder random, but that is separate from the lack of respect and common decency shown to the victims family by Sussman and Katie.

No. Now tell us how you could possibly know.

    > How the hell could Bart police proclaim the

They didn't. They said so far it *appeared* to be a random act. They stressed in the press conference the next day that all the facts were not yet in, but that's how things looked then because they had no evidence to the contrary. See, to understand things, you have to listen.

  7. The family should sue both of those kooks, not the station or Cumulus. Place the blame for creating deranged fake news where it belongs -- on both of their shoulders -- and make them pay for their own legal expenses and any damages awarded out of their own pockets.

  8. There was another “random” act of violence ; a vicious, unprovoked (stabbing) earlier this year on BART. Middle aged siblings were stabbed multiple times on their way to an A’s game ad the exited the train. . The Sister Was stabbed multiple times in the head and her brother stabbed in the chest/heart wihile try to protect his sister. He remained in critical condition for a long time Miraculously they both survived. I believe I read it was a transient on drugs. Frightening how many angry, drugged out of their mind, crazies out there. God help us! BART needs to step up security!! I’ve riden it once and felt very uneasy. Did not seem safe at all.

  9. Anyone can sue anyone. That said, any lawyer who told you that the family of the murdered woman has a "great case" has a poor understanding of defamation law. Unless they stated as fact, that the woman was in a gang and the killer targeted her thusly, Mr. Sussman and Ms. Green didn't defame the victim. From your description of their program, it sounds like they merely asked if the young woman's extensive postings of her selfie affinity for guns, could mean that she had gang connections and enemies. In a free society you can still question things that happen in the news. I'm no fan of either host, and agree that their analysis was most likely driven by right wing racism, but that's not illegal, either.

    3. Regardless of what they have done, I hate to see a suspect's mugshot with his face battered because it makes me believe all the crap you hear about the police might just be true.

  11. @Anonymous at 2:36PM: "if the young woman's extensive postings of her selfie affinity for guns, could mean that she had gang connections and enemies." Actually, they could claim that she's a right wing nut and professing her support for the Second Amendment.

  13. The BART Police Chief, in his very first press conference, stated right off the bat that the suspect changed his clothes in the parking lot after the crime which was to him was an indication of guilt. Actually, he has given Mr. Cowell's attorney a plum for prejudicing the jury pool with what was needless and inappropriate speculation regarding the crime. It was a hot day, perhaps he removed some unnecessary clothing. At any rate, without having questioned the suspect, or even if he did, he also should have not been speculating that it was random. Unfortunately, many of these individuals would do better to make an abbreviated statement stating only the facts and leave it at that. They don't need to provide anything else. In an attempt to calm public fears, he obliterated the suspect's rights.

  14. No surprise here from the right wingnut radio station. If it was a brown skin perp, he's a guilty thug/terrorist, but this kook gets a free pass cuz these gals deserved it in Trumpland. Sad.

  15. I'm conservative and I quite listening to these two bumpkins years ago. Sussman has no pride. He has no clue what a joke he is. As for his sidekick, well, timing is everything for a chortling wannabe. She'll never be a talk show host or a journalist. KGO and KSFO are memories now. I never, ever listen to radio unless it's Sirius in my wife's car and that's overpriced and won't be renewed. Podcasts do it for me and The Great Courses videos and audio. Who needs locals who give us the breaks between what really mattes: the long commercial breaks that I turn off.

    1. Katie Green is the embodiment of how radio stations these days don't pick women for sense of humor or brains but physical features to be viewed in the building and at events. These types of women proceed to clumsily stumble in and wreck the whole flow of the segments by being clueless.

Not for nuthin', but Katie Green oughta know better as the daughter of a Federal judge. (Full disclosure to protect her privacy, "Katie Green" is not her real name.)

  18. What shocks me the most is that somebody actually listened to this garbage show in order to have heard what they said. The show went way, way downhill after Melanie Morgan left. Not to mention that even then it was a bad imitation of what the show was with Lee Rodgers.
