A Few MVP Performances from Bay TV News from Parade Scene; Hurd from NBC Bay Area Shines With Steve Kerr Exclu

Image result for warriors parade 2018 MVP performances by Bay Area TV -- and NOT-So MVP...Live from the Warriors' Parade …

*Cheryl Hurd nabbing Steve Kerr for a one-on-one; NBC Bay Area with a stellar performance and great ad-libbing from Raj Mathai and Jessica Aguirre...

*Proving that he can carry a good show no matter the chaos and circumstances, KGO's Larry Beil who was armed with a lot of confetti one-liners and did a splendid job

*Ditto KPIX duo Ken Bastida and Vern Glenn for their tenacity --particularly Bastida who snagged Gavin Newsom and Warriors owner, Joe Lacob; good interviews and well done bravado because in a crazy environment it's pretty good when you can snag a decent interviewee for interviewer ...KTVU is Oakland-based but curiously  decided to keep its anchor team of Mark Ibanez and Sal Castaneda in studio as opposed to setting up shot on the scene: bizarre and curious...

  1. All stations did a fine job but I thought ABC 7 knocked it out of the Park. They ended their coverage with a parade highlight video montage that was off the charts. Great editing job by whoever, on the fly.. Great party for certain..

  2. Go Vern! Oh, except for the part where Steve Kerr told you to "go bother someone else" when you wouldn't leave him to interact with his fans for a minute. Embarrassing.

  3. Lots of comments on sports blog sites (mostly negative ) dealing with announcers on NYC Sports Bay Area.

  4. Rich, I have a question from a technical perspective?

So in terms of like live broadcasting, did each station have a live truck set up on every corner? I saw some big old Satellite trucks also.... Any idea how these stations managed to get like 10 cameras to this event and still cover the rest of the news in the bay?

    1. usually the stations "pool" some of their cameras for events like these, so KTVU will send 3 or 4 cameras and 2 of them will be shared with the other stations, and likewise with the others so it's easier to cover.. at least that's how they used to do it

  5. KGO should have the evening reporters to cover this not morning reporters who should do outside coverage instead.

  6. all the local stations took a "pool feed " of the event.

  8. lets show Bob Fitzgerad the door good lord he is so bad..not picking on the guy, i know his wife passed away and all, but the Warriors are so big right now they have their pick for a top notch tv play by play guy either in the sf market or all over the country..

    3. Who would you suggest? I know Fitzgerald can be an annoying homer, but he and Barnett are pretty good compared to the other NBA announcers I've seen.

  9. Ken Bastida CRUSHED IT with his Gavin grab. That was a splendid interview (done after hitching a ride on the aspiring Gov's running board). He asked interesting questions and knew just when to wrap it up. Bravo, KPIX.

    1. I love the way all these politicians who have nothing to do with anything force their way into these parades.

  10. I preferred the NBCSBA coverage, I hate it when local reporters (non-basketball fans) try to out-scoop each other by grabbing the players and forcing them to answer their stupid questions like "How do you feel?".

  11. KTVU coverage? Clearly FOX-ified. Sad.
I noticed KGO-TV wasn't the only ABC7 out there. Somehow, KABC-TV LA brought a van up there. Guess KGO needed KABC's help.
