The guy is good.
I finally got a chance the other night to watch Sacramento native Senior anchor KTVU's 7 PM newscast (on sister station 6/KTVU Plus); Senior was excellent.
He's got a straight-forward, crisp, authentic style --almost too slick but when you're consistent with your delivery and it sticks, then your anchoring is enjoyable to watch.
Senior comes off as genial and cogent; down home and genuine --that's a nice break away from the usual newbies who don't know the area and try to fool the viewing audience. Sacramento isn't the Bay Area but it's close enough so Senior's sincerity is credible. He appears to have done his homework checking out the geography of the area and isn't making a fool of himself with disingenuous chatter. It comes across on the screen as legit and so far, so good. That's a plus worth watching --both on the desk and in the field.

Better than Dave Clark with a reporter look.
ReplyDeleteReally? Last night he commented on the walk off homer by new Giant Andrew "McCrutchen" ...um,what? He's got a little homework to do.
ReplyDeleteBut yes, WAY better than Dave Clark.
ReplyDeleteExpect to see more KTXL staffers at FOX40 Sacramento to be groomed for promotion to KTVU. That's one obvious routine by The Firm that isn't so bad an idea if reporters like Senior continue to raise their game to a higher level at FOX2. Oakland - and especially Jack London Square - could use this.
ReplyDeleteMaria Medina, Neda is from KOVR 13 CBS Sacramento. Keba, former KTVU 2 was from KXTV 10 ABC Sacramento. Only reporters who went to Sac from Bay Area are Teo Torres from KRON 4 working from KCRA 3 NBC and that one KRON 4 Morning female Reporter half Asian and African American...forgot her name doing weather for KOVR 13.

DeleteHe's a good reporter too. Breath of fresh air behind the desk.
ReplyDeleteI watched him as well last night by accident and thought he was good and professional!!
ReplyDeleteAsk Andre to pronounce Chabot College. Welcome to the Bay Area Andre.
ReplyDeleteAnd Gough.
DeleteI'll cut him some slack on the learning curve as far as pronunciation goes. He's professional and comes across as intelligent, which is so much more than can be said for other news *readers* on local TV.
ReplyDeleteI discovered Senior lately and thought that he is the best new reporter the Bay Area has had in a very long time. I was wondering when you were going to give him a review. Here's hoping he sticks around for awhile.
ReplyDeleteHe's awful. Competent...but boring!
ReplyDeleteAndre Senior is terrific both out in the field and on air.He is friendly, professional caring.
