Play The Game Hard; Be Gritty; Two Women and a Guy at a Bar; Friday Tales from 415 Media

You know how to play the game...at least I thought you did. Maybe one too many last night. Perhaps wifey or girlfriend were pissed that you didn't bring dinner home, something like that.

You still have to play the game, you too Madame Courtney.

You live in a big city with lots of tall buildings everywhere and you you walk the streets because you can't park in San Francisco--and you talk to everyone. Because everyone knows you and expects your output and contribution; it's called "Playing the Game."

*Genie was outside one of the TV stations near Battery the other night; it was a long day due to the YouTube shooting and had to work late; she' s behind the scenes at a local station. Before leaving she got a call from her girlfriend to ask if she wanted to join her for a drink in SOMA; they met later and shared a couple of glasses of wine and were on their way out when some older man in a suit, well-dressed, approached them; after lengthy and repeated giggles, they all went back into the restaurant and returned to the bar. The guy ordered some red wine because he told the two ladies since they were in the financial district he wanted to impress them with his wine acumen. They seemed rather happy because they stayed and drank the whole bottle, cackled further, and left with the man in an Uber and headed to the marina.

Someone very important --let's just say a guy who wears a suit and manages a very have prominent station decided to take Wednesday morning off--just in time to have coffee and cigarettes with his wife. I don't think they were talking about yoga practice.

*To Play The Game you have to have to possess just the right amount of inertia and energy. It demands it. You slack off, you lose. You It's that simple. Easy times are easy. Tough times are where you see the BIG Boys earn their keep. You have to maintain a consistent theme and presence; don't let the bastards get you down. It's called life and you've been there before only this time you've been dealt lousy cards--so be patient and relax. Take it easy. Don't back down and then You will not only play the game --you will WIN the game and come back stronger than ever.

*Dirty Water: lousy food.

*The senior saleswoman at a once famous FM AOR station decided to take her co-workers to lunch at Alioto's; everything was fine and dandy until the bill arrived and she decided to pay her portion. Her friends (and maybe now not-friends) were not amused when she didn't grab the bill. Obviously some woman with a Versace handbag had a crappy month or chose the wrong time to play el cheapo.
Talk about how not to play the game.

*For the 86,000th time I still don't get Heather Holmes. She did ditch the nightclub look and passes well for a simple black blouse. Good thing she doesn't work for KPIX when Bruno Cohen was GM.

    1. That Black KRON Woman you are talking about is brand new sports reporter Kim Smith who has been filling in for the Bloated One who is on vacation. Not only is Kim easy on the eyes she reads the teleprompter well without any forced phony theatrics unlike KPIX & ex-KRON weekend sports anchor Vern Glenn an irritating Radnich clone who still does his sports segments in the same annoying style he learned from the Bloated One.

    2. Where is Kim Smith now? She was way better than the current group, which is boring, in comparison. Too bad that she is gone. Very talented and enthusiastic.

  2. Gee, this one was completely over my head, I guess because I'm not "in with the in crowd." I worked in SF for six months one time and thought the people working there were insufferable and way too impressed with themselves.

  5. In a blinding stroke of genius, you have hit on the abiding fault with Bay Area media. They are inauthentic because they are playing a "game."
