THERE'S ELATION at 900 Front because the new GM will not be Tracey Watkowski-Silva --as we thought, but truth is ABC balked given all the bad stuff higher ups had heard about Trixie.
The new GM: An ABC News exec, Tom Cibrowski.
Even his colleagues were stunned he took the job here at KGO.
"A huge loss," said one
We don't know a lot about Cibrowski but as far as the Circle7 newsroom is concerned, he's not her.
Speaking of which, now that Trix doesn't have the gig probably signals regime change has begun at ABC7.
{TV NEWSER}
They brought in a news guy to take care of Tracey. She's a liability to the company, and you've got a seasoned news exec to fix it. Makes sense to me.
ReplyDeleteThat’d be nice. Let’s hope.
DeleteBang Bang the Witch is dead
ReplyDeleteHopefully, bye bye the current news anchors hired by Tracey and back back Eric and Kristen.
ReplyDeleteGee...a NEWS person running the ship. What a concept! Hey Trixie, hit the road bitch!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I'm sure a "news guy" who brought us the light and fluffy GMA is going to really turn back the clock 20 years and return to actual hard news glory days. Ha ha ha ha. Good one.
DeleteCibrowski an all star. He is also far from the first news person to be named a General Manager, and not the first at KGO-TV. News directors at the ABC O&Os are subject to the decisions of the GM but have their own line of reporting. The arrival of a new GM at ABC stations does not necessarily mean the departure of the news director. Further, I would tell people that Cibrowski has little to no tolerance of people who constantly complain about their bosses. He'll find out what's real and what isn't. Constant complainers will be invited to depart the building.
ReplyDeleteHey 3:35 dead wrong. Trixie is toast its tradition. Every KGO-GM Jim, Joe, Valerie broomed the old ND for fresh meat. Trixie might have "had" a Burbank mentor but that's history. She will predictably move her entire family to to some other god awful place to sink more newsrooms. Starting with her early days in Phily, Trixie was once a rising star, destined for network-land. That is, until she became a power hungry bitch. Good morning Cleveland!
DeleteImagine, a news vet running things! Back in the day, long before we said "back in the day," I worked for a local Peninsula weekly, where the publisher was rather frustrated that his entire reporting staff was comprised of, get this, journalism graduates! (He woulda preferred Sales People reporting the news.)
ReplyDeleteChanging of the guards... I hope he can fix the dead air time, wrong graphics and dead mic's. Also cut some of the giggle time and get back to the news.
ReplyDeleteSo is the Trixter gone (fired) or just not GM, but still VP of News or whatever the hell she was before?
ReplyDeleteTracey Watkowski
ReplyDeleteTom Cibrowski
I wouldn't count on things changing for the better. In fact, I'll bet they get worse.
With ABC naming Cibrowski as new KGO GM, it'll be interesting to see if Watkowski-Silva could soon be let go from her ND post soon. I'm assuming with Cibrowski coming in, that KGO is likely going in a new direction.
ReplyDeleteWe always watch ABC7 and love the bantering. It's like being a family and love the way they get along. Todays news is so heavy with problems that sometimes you need to laugh. However I do respect that people should dress as they like. There is degree of professionalism. Hopefully Cibrowski will raise the bar for professional attire. Take a look at the New York market. San
ReplyDeleteFrancisco is not a third rate. Nice dresses as many on camera wear on 7 command respect. Away with the frills and blazers.
ABC has also named a new general manager for WABC... Debra O'Connell. O'Connell, who is replacing Dave Davis, will have the job of hiring a new news director to replace Camille Edwards. WABC and KGO being big management shake-up stories this week.
