That's so sad- he was likable guy. As I recall he once showed photos of his young self,and Jim was a long haired hippy type. So,I can see that type as retiring to old hippy land. RIP.
He was our weatherman for 25 years in Eureka, as well as an FAA air traffic controller. It was nice seeing him do weekends in a big market. On a local station tribute, they had mentioned he flew his plane down to do the weekend weather on KRON then KPIX.
I always liked Jim's low-keyed style and presence. Rest in Peace.
