AS FAR as I know...Gary Radnich isn't facing a heave-ho at KRON (as industry rumors mount) but an on-air incident last week doesn't help matters and will only fuel the fire.
Radnich met with KRON honchoes (including a couple from corporate) in a major late-afternoon powwow --there's no details on what transpired but it was enough for Radnich to tell news anchor, Pam Moore, "you'd be 'kissing my rear end..." That remark clearly flustered and embarrassed Moore, a respected news anchor and KRON holdover from the Van Ness days gave a look of "what the hell did he (Radnich) just say? You could only imagine what viewers thought.Turns out, the meeting involving Radnich and Nexstar (its corporate owner) might have been them reading the riot act to Radnich. This has happened before but last week's powwow involved money too and no doubt the new financial order taking place that even Radnich can't control. Or will tolerate? Or new rules that might mean the end for Raddy?
It's a well-known fact Nexstar has been cutting salaries across the board not only at KRON but its other stations and Radnich has already taken a significant pay cut.
We'll see where this is headed.
Besides his passive aggressive spells, his problem with Pam Moore as I see it, is...Radnich is just a sports anchor. Always the 2nd or even 4th banana on any newscast and Moore is the ANCHOR people take serious. 30 years of that and watching Moore get media awards for news..while Radnich stands to the side is what gets to him.

Its why he brags about his money. "I drive a better car then the boss" You all saw that commercial.
Its all he's toy department..and Moore and Pete Wilson and Dan Ashley..jealousy and envy.
With woman anchors he takes it out on. Cathy Heenan. Easy prey for him to vent on. So far.

Why they don't just throw that gas bag out of there and hire someone half his age for a quarter his salary with ten times his knowledge I don't know. Fresno's full of them. He's not drawing viewers to KRON, that's for sure. What an asswipe.

At least Dr. Don's 'fake' laughter was recorded(usually Daws Butler as the 'Dragon' from Stan Freberg's old 'Dragnet' spoof)...and more genuine than the gut-busting 'bros' do nowadays.

DeleteWith Charley Rose there were numerous credible sources who came forward with details of gross sexual misconduct. With Gary Radnich there are none that I am aware of.
If you have a credible allegation of specific sexual misconduct, please provide details.
I love watching Radnich. It's the only reason I tune into KRON.

ReplyDeleteRadnich is one of the reasons I no longer listen to KNBR. At KRON, Henry Wofford would be a much better sports anchor than Radnich.
ReplyDeleteI love Gary too. His ribs at coworkers are not mean-spirited but funny and endearing. It is clear that he that is just being playful. Sports is not life and death. Gary puts it all in perspective.

Looks like the chill at KRON between Radnich and Moore could be cut with a knife. No more "Thank you Gary" like the submissive one from Moore as she was want to do. Ridiculously,he still has a job there. I wonder how many other stations would let a white man put down a black female anchor with "With out me,you wouldn't have a job so kiss my rear end" and not fire him?

Makes me wonder what clauses Radnich has in his contract..or just tells me more about American big business.

ReplyDeleteOh,get this- Yesterday Pam Moore did a live on set interview with a specialist who deals with - sexual harassment. It couldn't have been more suggestive about last Thursday. I doubt Moore, who asked about what to do? Did what was told. Of course Radnich abuse is mostly against woman- the sexual part..but otherwise its abuse. No doubt about that.
