The Long, Hot Weekend With All The Commotion

Image result for Stressful times IS THE COMMOTION OVER?

Long, hot, weekend...these are the best of times and worst of times. Where have I heard that? I think it all started at the election last November. Even the most ardent Clinton haters couldn't have wanted this, this country seemingly incapable of becoming a roller-coaster car careening out of control. It doesn't matter if your Dem, Repub, Independent, Green, Red, Black, Yellow, White, we all have collective unity and disunity and we've discombobulated to a point where unease rules the day.

It has an effect on ALL of us. The guy in the White House doesn't give a damn; he's hellbent on dividing us all. And that's what his SOB comments were; a man clearly knowing what he was doing and doing so splendidly. Give KGO's Ronn Owens credit for something not brought up: Don Trump is no fool. He absolutely is no dummy. He played US and we all reacted --including me. "How can he be such a jerk?" was the national narrative. Really? The man knows he was going to solidify his base; those who don't care what he does and will support him no matter what and who probably hate and detest rich, Black athletes like NBA and NFL football players. With Trump, the election isn't over and the campaign is a continuation for the next three and a half years.

*As usual, the simpleton media, for the most part, merely acted robotic --again. So instead of offering comprehensive pieces on why the president was doing what he was doing, they instead acted like the lemmings they are and always will be. They paraded out meathead reporters who asked their usual dumb questions in Walnut Creek (again) "Is it right what the president said?" Even Walnut Creek showed some balls with looks of, "Are you really that gullible?" Like I've said, the Bay Area TV reporters are not too bright. They don't have the proper training and therefore act like idiots when they hit the streets. It's indicative of the wonder bread USA that Mr. Trump is playing footsie with and he's got a helluva audience.

Trump's latest impulsive orgasm on Twitter could have been cause for a decent discussion on talk radio only talk radio here doesn't exist anymore and when it does, only on weekday morning where five minutes is considered five hours. After all, the local Cloud Company office thinks you're too dumb for a discussion not having to do with the history of jelly doughnuts. Then again, it helps maintain employment for Chip Franklin and Ethan Bearman. There's always a positive.

*Pat Thurston on KGO Radio saved an otherwise stressful Saturday night; she had an in-studio guest, Russ Baker, who is an excellent investigative reporter; a journalist, remember that term? He and Pat had roughly 45 minutes of good, interesting, provocative back and forth about various characters in the Bush and Trump administrations; it wasn't jelly doughnuts and how to execute perfect pick-up lines but it was sure damn-good radio.

*Speaking of execution, the sports guys still don't know how to cover a non-sports story and the Trump/NFL convergence was not a sports story. Only a story that involved sports' players. The debate is about race, class, economics, and the first amendment. It involves a lot of thought and consideration; something that doesn't fit into the sports-talk radio genre and when callers and unqualified hosts get busy, it can become quite embarrassing. The local bleeder didn't disappoint, as usual.

  1. Great post, Rich, but Ronn gets credit for nothing unless he noted that the reason behind Trump's rant was to obscure the fact that his promised repeal failed. AGAIN.

Really? Obviously you haven't been reading Scott Ostler or Ann Killian.

  3. Radnich doesn't have a word of blame for Trump. He blames the Obama economy!
    Nothing about Charlottesville,or Curry...nothing.
You can always count on Gary to be an apologist for money and power.

    2. I watch a couple of his KRON episodes. First of all,he could barely talk wheezing out of breath and beat red faced..he must have waited until the last second. If he cant walk fast without nearly dropping, why not get there sooner? Why do KRON producers allow that kind of amateur broadcasting. Cable access level.
AND..Not a word about Trump was Gary critical of. He danced, and danced around it some more. Would not blame Trump. At all.
But he would blame Obama..then and now.

Yeah, there was some sports guy on Sat. with labored breathing and a red face who seemed miffed that LeBron called Trump a bum. He blabbered on about respecting the office yet oddly enough, failed to mention that the office holder referred to grown men as S.O.B.s

Yea, it all started with the previous administration and Democrats in power welcoming people to spit on and attack cops, et al. You reap what you sow.

    1. Nobody did that. That's part of your fantasy reverse world. People protest unjust police killings. Nothing wrong with that. Police don't like them either.

    2. Fantasy reverse world? Mr fantasy world has the audacity to say that to someone? Remember when "they" were tracking you down, getting information on you that only "they" could? We need to reopen Agnews.

    3. They could just do what you do. Follow them over to East 12th street and take photographs of them to post online. Knucklehead.

    4. Let me say this a better way then. One guys says I'm crazy to say "stalkers" Then the next guy says things a stalker says.
      My point made.

    5. Actually, people are "spitting on" and "attacking cops" because now there are cell phones. Previously, cops just beat the shit out of minorities for years without facing charges. Now they just get off. So people spit and attack.

It must be soooooooooooooooo hard for you being a white guy.

    6. It must be sooooo sad to go through life blaming the "white guys" for everything that's wrong with your life. Take a little responsibility.

Only those two administrations? Talk about lemmings, she needs to retire.

    1. Baker did a lot of interesting work probing FBI abuses and the war in Libya under Obama too. Pat grudgingly voted for HRC. Calm down, your partisanship is showing.

  7. Yes, Trump knows what he's doing but it doesn't take a smart person to do it, or to recognize it. He panders to an audience that's dumber than he is. He does so because his previous business of licensing his name is DEAD. So now he needs to create a new business, and he's doing so in the same hate markets many others have traversed. Be it Savage, Limbaugh, Alex Jones, you name it. But as President he has taken it up another level.

When he's out of office, presumably before 2020, he will launch a cable news network of some sort with Steve Bannon, and will attempt to make money that way. It's his only option.

His male children will have to work for the company, while the daughter works for the real estate company of her husband.

Yeah, he knows what he's doing but only someone who cared about no one but himself would actually do it.

    1. Get over yourself 1:56 with your cliched crap. The whole premise of the racism here is some tourettes like symptom. If the fans were truly racist, they really wouldn't be NFL fans to begin with. As such, as you claim the intellectual high-ground in profound irony, you can't even consider that the stance they're taking, though you still may disagree, is not based in racism. If you can't think of a rationale from them beyond that, you're the dumbass along with every other with lib tourrettes TDS.

Doth protest too much. Nothing 1:56 wrote merits the type of spittle-filled rant you posted. Unless, of course, he/she hit too close to home.

  9. Owens is wrong. Trump has no master strategy, he reacts. His base isn't going anywhere no matter what. Now he's lost Tom Brady, the last thing he expected.

  10. You also had Chris Collinsworth,on Sunday night Prime Time, telling Trump he needs to apologize.

Explain to Ronn Owens that Trump didn't sign up for that.
