  1. Rich - I saw that Ray Woodson landed at 95.7 The Game. Do the long term prospects remain dim for The Game, or will things pick up after the Giants season ends on KNBR?

    1. They're fortunate in that they have deep-pocket ownership (Entercom) and they're making money which is the bottom line. Furthermore, their shows much more interesting and entertaining than KNBR which isn't saying much, though.

    2. I am so happy to hear that. Class act, didn't deserve the Lee hammer. Wouldn't it be great if Tolbert ended up there too? The 3pm to 6pm is like fingernails on a chalkboard without him.

    3. Ray Woodson landed? Oh you mean Arthur Chavez. Way to go!

    4. Class act? Way too political for a sports talk host that never played.

    5. Why does Ray Woodson have an Anglo Saxon name?
What is wrong with using his birth name of Chavez?
He can't seam to embrace his heritage.

Hi Rich, how is your Mom doing?

    1. Thanks much for asking Darrin.

She's much better ...again, very cool of you to ask.

    2. Glad to hear that Rich. Our loved ones affect every aspect of our lives, including our working lives. Continued recovery to her.

    3. Glad to hear your mom is doing fine! Nothing can keep a Lieberman down!

  3. Why did ESPN make Sergio Dipp a sideline reporter? He clearly wasn't HAVING THE TIME OF HIS LIFE!

    1. They need bodies every now and then. Someone has to do it. Even ESPN.

  4. Why do you even watch TV news anymore? Seriously. Does it even matter anymore? Tell me the last thing you watched, where, after it was over you said to yourself, 'man, I did not know that and I am sure glad I watched' and you could not get that information anywhere else.

    1. I don't watch TV News for that; I watch for local stories but your pessimism is warranted. Not everything on the Internet gives you the information that you seek. I grant you our local news is not that great but it's been that way for years now.

    2. For years "tv news" has just regurgitated what was in the local newspapers that day. Those are the real "reporters".

  5. Did you secretly miss Roberta while she was on her extended vacation?

  6. Who is taking over for Ama Daetz while she is on maternity leave?

    1. Probably Kristin Sze; nothing is official but Sze has been appearing in Ama's place and looks to be her fill-in while she's gone.

  7. Ama looks ready to 'splode(!)

  8. Hey Rich,

Do you have any thoughts on the A's proposed move to the Laney College area, and their decision not to build on the current Coliseum site? Also, in a few years, do you suspect that they will include the Oracle Arena in the (outdoor) Coliseum demolition project?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I love the Laney site but as usual, they'll be people who are NIMBYs; welcome to the Bay Area and Oakland. I would hope they have a backup site bc I expect the opposition to this site will be considerable...Oracle probably won't be razed bc it's still useful as a concert site.

  9. Rich, shalom! Are you excited about the upcoming new season of Curb your Enthusiasm? I figured Larry's return would have you all giddy. L'Shanah Tovah, Rich!

  10. Hey a Rich
Why don't they replace Roberta with the replacement they had Nedra Iranpoir. She seems to do a good job and she doesn't self promote. I'm surprised Roberta didn't do a slide show of her trip to push it in our faces. Plus her spanx aren't doing the job anymore

    1. Roberta has a following and certain men in Union City and Fremont would revolt; for now, she's safe.

  11. What was your favorite radio catchphrase of years past in the Bay Area? You don't seem to hear them as much as you did 20+ years ago when the stations around here were more independent and not owned by some corporation back east.

My favorite, "DONT TOUCH THAT DIAL....THERE'S KOME ON IT!" 98.5 KOME, legendary.

    1. Growing up in the 70's I always loved KFRC, the "Big 610" AM; KCBS' "All news 74" was a constant; and a favorite, "Lucky 13" for ...I forgot, someone help me out.

    2. "Wake up with KOME in your ear"...classic...

    3. lucky 13-KDIA? not to be confused with "Good Rockin' Lucky" DJ on the other R&B station.

    4. My favorite drop was for the late DJ Dennis Erectus... "A man so horny not even the crack of dawn is safe."

  12. During the last big Mexico City earthquake, every Bay Area media outlet and those in Monterey-Salinas too, sent crews to cover the quake. Has anyone been sent this week? If no, why not?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Probably because the networks sent crews and even though this is a big news story, budgets are tight.

    2. Yes, Damian Trujillo went for NBC Bay Area and Telemundo 48.

  13. Who will fill in for Julie Watts on KPIX during her maternity leave?

  14. I miss talk radio a lot. Is there a conservative or at least somewhat liberal/conservative talk station around this area? Yes, I miss KGO. But, many of the former talk show hosts seem to have retired. What happened to Eason and the weekend Dr? What are they up to now?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Try KTRB (860 AM 'The Answer') It is Salem Broadcasting's conservative talk outlet with Hugh Hewitt, Dennis Prager and Larry Elder on its schedule...Both Eason and Dr. Bill are retired.

  16. Is it me or has Damon Bruce who I thought at one time was prepared and entertaining, now I can barely listen, as he is redundant and seems most of the time is smashing the Yorks and the Levi Stadium. Yea we get it, maybe not best location and stadium has a lot of issues but he just says the same repetitive crap over and over. Yes Damon your right about the stadium but saying the same stuff over and over make you the most negative Nancy on Bay Area Sports.

    1. It's simple. Damon does that, ad nauseum, for several reasons. One, he gets to talk Niners, which he wants to do because it's a bigger audience and will soon enough be the only football team in town. Might as well start trying to build up that audience. Secondly, he's slamming the Niners, which makes the Raiders fans happy. Third, it's an easy target.

Honestly, if Damon was half as good as he thinks he is, he would've gone national instead of going to a rival that has about a quarter of the signal and a third of the listeners as KNBR. That misogynistic rant about women and sports really derailed his career and it's going to follow him until he retires. That's a shame to have your entire career trajectory changed based on one, little 8 minute outburst. Maybe his apology wasn't good enough for everyone. Who knows.

      Delete
    2. Yeah, Damon does kind of go overboard on Levi's sometimes, but he mainly bashes it from the standpoint of how moving to Levi's has changed things for the Niners franchise in general. The Niners really haven't been the same since they've moved to Levi's, at least so far.

With that being said, I've been to Levi's once and that was for the Foster Farms Bowl last year. I'll admit it wasn't really all that bad. I hope to go there for a Niner game at some point maybe hopefully this season, to see how it's really like for a Niner game and if Damon's criticisms of Levi's for Niner games are really true.

  17. Hey Rich, nice to hear your mom is doing better. How much longer do you give Donnie and Marie at circle 7? It's a shame what has happen to their morning news since Eric Thomas moved to weekends.

    1. Unfortunately, they're probably good for at least another year...after that? Anybody's guess. But you're right, they really suck.

      Delete
    2. Gawd, another year? They are embarrassing to watch. I say throw them out and put Castro on the morning anchor desk.

  18. Rich, if things aren't working out with say Donnie and Marie, is it a standard practice that they let their contracts run out and then say "we're going in a different direction." If the ratings are bad, why keep them on?

  19. still the best ''drop'' in radio,,,''and BOOM goes the dynamite...''.

  20. 860 has michael medved mid day, a reasonable conservative. I found bloomberg 960 palatable. Greg Jarret is there. And do you know where Jennifer Jones Lee is, always liked her. I see "sing song" Kim Foster is at KCBS. Just read the script, Kim!!! No need to sing it!

  21. Please elaborate on how the hell NBC hired this amateur to team up with Laura! All he does is stumble and bumble his way through each prompter story

  22. Has anyone noticed on the Happy Hour that whenever Greg Papa is on the show, Kelli Johnson is not there, and when Kelli Johnson is there, Greg Papa is not there? Yeah, some of it is coincedental, Greg Papa traveling with the Raiders and preparing for Raider games, and Kelli Johnson apparently having jury duty.

It has been mentioned on here that Greg Papa doesn't look at Kelli Johnson during the show, which is somewhat true from what I remember.

A telling moment on the show for me, and maybe this was where Kelli Johnson possibly went sour with Greg Papa, was on Mother's Day weekend. I think Kelli Johnson asked Greg Papa if he would give his wife a Mother's Day gift and he said no because that day is reserved for his mother, and that he didn't have to give his wife a Mother's Day gift. They had fun with it, but you could almost tell that Kelli Johnson might've lost some, if not a lot respect for Greg Papa after that.

It wouldn't surprise me if Kelli Johnson either leaves the show or leaves NBC Sports Bay Area, but we'll see. Maybe the jury duty thing is true.

  23. Rich, A&G in trouble at KGO? Recently they were urging (& admonishing) their listeners to "listen to your local A&G station). In other words, if you live in the Sacto market listen to the show on KSTE, not KGO. Likewise if you live the bay area (esp the east bay) listen to A&G on KGO, not KSTE. They were trying to make the point that success in the SF ratings for KSTE means nothing to a Sacto station and it does KGO no good to have ratings in Sacto. They were talking about how the two stations with their massive signals were "cannabilizing" eachothers A&G audiences. Sounds to me like the show is in trouble at 810. Your thoughts?
