Does Anyone Watch 4 PM Local TV Newscasts? Haener/KTVU 'Creative Differences'; Monday Lunch Break

Related image Both KGO and KTVU have 4 PM newscasts; even with so-so-ratings at a Death Valley time slot, few people if any actually watch the offerings.

Which leads me to ask do any of you watch 4 PM News Shows locally?

I applaud both KGO and KTVU for their commitment to local news in abundance but I question the value of these newscasts if hardly anyone is watching.

As a matter of fact, with the proliferation of cable outlets, news, even local news has become marginalized and insignificant. The majority of the local stories at 4, in fact, have very little actual news--more consumer-oriented packages and lifestyle stories proliferate the programs. That's probably by design but I doubt the effectiveness of that tactic.

Those that do watch news at 4 PM are few and far between.

*Rumor of the day: There's a lot of chatter making the rounds that KTVU (Fox2) and Julie Haener are having "creative differences" --she's under contract for another two years but has been appearing on all of 2's news platforms --even on weekends (although that's because Haener asked for that time so she could spend more time with her son); we'll watch developments.

  2. I watch 'em all. Like Dr. Phil or Viral Vids or fawning talk show hosts are going to waste my time?
There is always news...its how much will a channel spend to show it?
I might be sorry to see KRON go. Ash just went nuts the last few years with Radnich..she did a good job getting good reporters for cheap, then has them all be embarrassed the by the sports clown?

  3. Why watch the 4pm news when you can see the same thing at 5pm or 6pm? I watch Judge Judy or Ellen at 4pm..much more entertaining.

  4. Yes, I watch KTVU to see Heather, Rosemary, and Leigh Martinez. Also Lauren Blanchard from Fox national.

  5. I *never* watch local news because it's not news, it's bullshit. I did some web work for a former Bay Area TV reporter, while I worked in print media in the Bay Are for 30 years. There is NO journalism being practiced in the San Francisco Bay Area. None.

  8. Julie "Doe-Eyes" Haener could leave tomorrow and no one would miss her. Except maybe Marshalls, where she buys those ugly blouses.

    1. Julie's son is a very sought after high school Quarterback for colleges this year. She goes to all of her son's football games every Friday night. That's why you see Julie work on a Saturday or Sunday from time to time.

  11. If I'm home at 4 PM and watching news, it's BBC America's news.

  12. KGO's Los Angeles sister KABC even debuted a 3 p.m. newscast this fall, giving it a solid three-and-a half hour news block until 6:30. I don't know what the November Nielsens revealed as to who if anyone was watching.

  13. Get rid of this heinous Haener. Put Heather Holmes on. She is so very sultry and hot.

  14. Never watch 4PM news on KGO 7 and never ever watch KGO 7 during the morning hours. I watch KTVU 2 with stable news reporting.
