Marcia Brandwynne was one of the highest paid and most popular anchors in the Bay Area during the 1970's and 80's--with stints at
KTVU and
KGO-TV. She was briefly at
KPIX.
She was so popular that when she migrated to
Channel 7, newsroom staffers were ticked off at her mega-contract and immense power.
After almost twenty years in the Bay Area, Brandwynne went down to LA and anchored at
KTLA. Today, she 's a Psychotherapist and does spot anchoring at
America Now News.
As long as one didn't have to work with her!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a news team I can trust! So unlike the multi-ethnic political pc correct bullshit they shove down our throats nowadays.
ReplyDeleteAre you being serious. Do you think only white people are capable of delivering the news? First of all it is possible that even in that picture one or two might be Hispanic, people in news and show business change their names, Hispanic women might marry someone with a non Hispanic name. Have you heard of Lester Holt, Ed Bradley, Don Lemon? How about Jessica Aquirre (not sure I spell her last name right) she worked with Pete Wilson, who I understand was a perfectionist, never heard much good about Jessica personality, but she was competent and professional on the air. There are others. Also a black women that was a staple on the San Francisco news scene for years Belva, sorry I forgot her last name Plain?? Anyway most will know whom I mean. I think she is semi retired, and how about Ed and Rosie on the good old KGO?
DeleteYeah, only white people can read a teleprompter Carlos.
DeleteShe was a favorite in our household. I remember during her brief stint at KPIX she was anchoring the noon news and a pre-KTVU Brian Martin was doing weather. He was extremely hyper and nervous and Marcia became frustrated and told him on the air to calm down.
ReplyDeleteThat's when we had decent news peeps. I do remember her short time on KPIX. To bad she didn't stay longer. I remember after KTVU, she went to KGO for a bit until going to Lala Land.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone remember when KTVU changed their logo to the circle 2?
I think they changed it around 1978. Not positive though.
Delete1975-ish...
DeleteMan, I'd forgotten about her. Good on ya Rich!
ReplyDeleteThe guy with the glasses kind of looks like the "creature features "host
ReplyDeleteSame man!
DeleteThat is Bob Wilkins, hosted "creature features" and did the weather reports
