Image result for Gary Radnich KRON IF you notice Mr. Gary Radnich has toned down the Don Rickles act at KRON the past few weeks it's not a coincidence: he was essentially read the riot act by station management.

Hey, knock it off.

We'll talk more about this in the coming week.

Bet you can't wait.

  2. They should tell him to leave his wife at home. She's a bigger loud mouth than him. The whole Radnich act is old and not funny.

  5. Was it Don Richles, or I'm thinking George Carlin who said after being asked to join a club, said, "I would never join a club that would have me as a member."

    3. 9:15 has it correct.
The attribution to this line is with Groucho Marx.
Apparently about being or not being invited to the Santa Monica tennis club? Anyone else know for sure here?

  6. A couple of times he's said things to Steve Aveson who looked to Moore to say something and both times she said "Leave me out of this". Pam,only worry's about Pam.
And I would think Aveson wasn't happy that Radnich just kept going on about how he wants to "Kiss Steve right on the lips".
Is he saying he thinks Steve is gay? Because he kept going back to that.
I will leave out the other 52 very recent events..

  7. It's about time this no-talent, washed up boob get put in his place. It's been a long time coming. His time has passed. It's people like him that put those hard working souls who don't fit someone's actuarial table a bad name. He needs to go. Now.

  8. Further proof he's losing gravitas. Over the years talked smack about how he's the man at KRON and can get away with not wearing a tie and not attend any games. I still remember the faces a former weather gal at KRON would make when Raddy Rickles would do his act.

  9. I called this the moment he married that African-American lady. I wrote that she wants his act to be more Rock than Rickles (that's Chris Rock). I wrote about it on Kawakamis blog but he blocked me! And then my internet provider bogged down my connection because I was correct on 3 bay area blogs! And then they banned me too!

  11. It's pretty amazing KRON has kept him around for this long.

When local news was still relevant, he was a big deal around here - love him or hate him - people had opinions on him.

When KRON and NBC parted ways, it was always assumed Gary would go to a bigger/affiliate-backed station. He made no secret of it on the air.

That never happened and now we have a guy who is way past his prime still on the air at KNBR and KRON. I haven't listened to his morning show in awhile, but when I did I remember the constant shots he'd take at KRON. Comments about it being watched by so few people, it's audience being made up of older people, etc. It was just such a rip job on his employer yet there never seemed to be any consequences. I figured it's because KRON's owners are out of state and don't hear about it? I really don't know, but I wish he'd go out with a bit of grace.

I could do without his lectures on life and him telling us not to take sports seriously, how it doesn't really matter in the big picture, etc. That always irritated the hell out of me. Yeah Gary, we all get that. We're not in the middle of the country livin' and dyin' with our teams, it's just a diversion for us, so if people are passionate let them be passionate, it's insulting.

He's now just a bit of a clown. He looks terrible, he sounds out of touch, and his KRON antics are a joke.

KRON should just axe him, no explanation needed. But KNBR needs to think about getting him out of there too. Perhaps they give him a month or two and let his old buddies call in, that would be fun.

But he needs to go. Hell, they got rid of Ralph and he was ten times better the good ole' Gary.

  14. I started tuning out of KRON before his segment. Cannot stand his big, pompous, bloated red face. He is a toad ready to explode.

  15. Radnich lost me years ago - this is what I remember a typical radio show would contain:

    - He'd open up with some sports takes, make a few cracks at some of the local sports figures (remember how he ragged on Bruce Bochy for years - too boring or whatever) then he'd open up the phone lines.

I'd be driving, somewhat interested, and someone would call and Gary would either:
    a. Let him get a few words in, make a smug remark and cut him off
    b. Put on his "I'm too cool for this sports stuff and say something to the caller like "ok, enough about the Giants, let's talk about Vernon Davis and his YAC, yards after catch! I want to talk YAC today!" then chuckle to himself and make another remark to the producer
or c. Let the caller talk, make a point, then in all seriousness ask the guy "hey , can I ask you something? Are you really going to lose sleep tonight because the Warriors don't match up well with Dallas? Seriously, take a breather, get out of the house a bit. The Warriors vs. Dallas, yeah, it's on, but does it matter? No, getting your kid through college matters. Right?"

It was just insulting and stupid. He hosts a sports talk show, yet if people want to talk sports he talks down to them, tells them to loosen up.

Newsflash to Gary. Everyone knows that their wives, kids, parents, jobs, you name it, are more important than sports. We get it. No one can afford to live in this area if you're not a fairly motivated individual. But people turn it on your stupid sports show to escape.

I swear the man never got that and I bet he still doesn't.

I saw the clip with him and Catherine Heenan when it first came out. The reaction around the country cracked me up, because they just figured he was a flippin' idiot. Obviously, it was his act, one that's way too old and Gary sounded like he couldn't decide if he was having a bad day and to take it out on the air on her or if he was just doing his usual thing, but man, he came off like a tool.

Finally, I remember two very distinct things about Gary:
    1. He said if KNBR ever asked him to take a partner he'd hang 'em up. Uh, what happened there?
    2. He said if KRON became an independent he'd leave.

Good old Gary isn't going anywhere unless he's shown the door.
