Mike Mibach Might Be the Next Anchor at KTVU On The Outs

After the unexpected departure of Keba Arnold--she quit abruptly and left July 9--fellow anchor and longtime KTVU news reader, Mike Mibach, might be on the outs too although his ouster would come from management.

KTVU higher-up suits are ticked off that Mibach was unable to form an on-air bond with Arnold and seemed rather delighted she split --a KTVU staffer: "It wasn't his fault about 'Keba's situation but  in their mind he never really tried hard to work with her."

Mibach's status would seem to be secure from here simply because another big-name leaving KTVU would be more harmful and add to the overall chaos currently afflicting the Fox2 O and O (owned and operated station)

Then again, Mibach's profile has been significantly marginalized at Jack London Square --therefore if he's indeed ultimately sacked, I'm not surprised.

Another thing: who is an adequate replacement?

We'll be watching.

  1. Nobody is chasing Mike to stay. His departure will enable FOX to continue to trim labor cost to an acceptable level.

    1. "An acceptable level" being interns and volunteers.

Pretty soon you'll be able to work at a college TV station to get credit for your job at KTVU, not the other way around.

  2. Mibach is good as a reporter and anchor. But KTVU has been canning all the good staff and leaving us with Palumbo and Somerville. Surprised Ken Wayne isn't gone since he's the best thing over there.

  3. Melania Trump. She would make an interesting anchor.

  4. They paired one intense guy- Mibach, with country suburbs Keba. If they WANTED to bond they would have. Like Choi and Greico are just matter and anti matter...nothing matters to them in each others lives.
Keba's voice just doomed chances too.
Yahoo sports has some terrible voices..but they do part time stuff. Saving grace.

  5. My hope is Ross Palumbo is shown the door. He is awful reporting at the RNC. Whoever thought he is talented and brought him back to the Bay Area was looking through feces colored glasses.

    1. Agreed. Why didn't they send Jesse Gary? He'd be ten times better.

  6. Ted Rowlands probably isn't working for free. Got to make some room in the budget, if you catch my drift.

  7. Anyone except Sal could be Mike's replacement. Mike is not a good pretender it was easy to tell that he didn't like brown sugar.

  8. Ross has the voice but not the looks for TV. Radio might be a better fit.

  9. Speaking of using your inside sources- Kate Cagle has not been on air in a month. NO reports,no Tweets.
She did answer one of my Tweets last month. Is KRON punishing her? What have you heard?

    1. Kate just quit and moved to LA a couple of weeks ago, even though she didn't have a job. She was the best thing the station had

  10. Move Frank Malicoat will fit in nicely in Mibachs spot

  11. He could be looking at a managerial position at a Kick boxing studio in Sacramento.

  12. Ross is not the most popular coworker at the station. They may have sent him to RNC to get him from underfoot.

He did a Facebook Mentions post on the eve of the convention. I wish I could un-see his report, as he was dressed in a super-tight black t-shirt. I think he's part-time journalist and full-time activist.

  13. Mibach is boastful and abrasive. He makes KTVU difficult to watch.
