How did Phil Matier Score an Exclu with Hillary Clinton in Oakland Friday? KPIX/Chron Insider had Willie Brown Help Which Isn't So Bad

Hillary Clinton greets Phil Matier

Hillary Clinton was campaigning in Oakland Friday; that's not big news but this is...

KPIX and the Chronicle's Insider Supreme, Phil Matier, scored an Exclusive Interview with the presumptive Dem nominee --which is cool for Matier who did a decent job, (I'm told) with Hillster --how did Matier score the Exclu? Well, let's just say its good to be chummy with Willie Brown who knows just about everybody, including Hillary Clinton, what a coincidence!

I know Matier is a tough interviewer and no softie whatsoever but I'm betting this matter wasn't OKed for questions by Clinton's entourage --just a hunch.

  1. What was it? "Matier and Ross"?

    Is Ross a figment?

  2. It's all bullshit that she read from a script and memorized. Next.

  3. I think Matier is one of the good guys but none the less I have a problem with Slick Willie as a news source. When Willie started writing for the Chron the School of Journalism Dean at Cal was outraged.

Matier is too close to Willie to be objective and including Willie on PIX newscasts is poor journalism as it is with the Chron's remaining stable of reporters (they have only one viewpoint which is often at odds with the community). The Chron has gone to hell so now lets import them to on air since that is going to hell too.

In my opinion a lot of the problems SF faces are due to Willie's ways and so including him in news casts as a commentator is inappropriate and unprofessional. To me this sort of thing is just as bad as Marie and Donny on KGO if not worse at KCBS...

Would you rather have hipster brats deliver the news or crooks spin the news? When a reporter gets too close to a story credibility goes out the window. While not necessarily the case in this instance when does a payback spinning the news get handed out to Willie?

I cringe when I see the politburo news feeds from The Examiner. We all know the Frisco Five are Gods to be dealt with in their spun stories but this has all become a too common with no integrity in reporting what is happening.

OK I'm old school but anything less than KNTV's investigative reporting is a joke and asking Willie for favors which will be called in at some point only weaken s a free press. San Francisco's press is so weak it almost is non existent and so we get the crappy city government we all gripe about...

  4. I didn't see the interview. I have only listened to about half of a few speeches she has given. Has she said anything about Veterans? My Father and his two brothers were Army Veterans, World War Two, I am a Vietnam Veteran. The Veteran stuff means a lot to me!!

I do remember what she said about Veterans when she was in the White House with her husband. She didn't like all the Military Aides working in and around the White House wearing their military uniforms, and requested they wore suits, if possible!

  5. Thank Goodness it was Phil Matier who got the interview. Just think if Darya or Gasia or even Doofus Dave Clark got a call to meet with Clinton. At least Phil brought journalistic skills to the interview.

    1. Gasia would have interrupted her asked to respond to a Tweet

  6. What is this trend with Hillary wearing leather lately? Does she think she's a dominatrix or something?

    1. She was in the SF area so she wore leather. She panders to the are she is in. When she was in the south recently her accent magically turned southern and she said she carried a bottle of hot sauce in her purse wherever she goes.

I can't wait for her to visit LA and for her to tell the crowd she carries jalapeno's in her purse wherever she goes.

    2. And then there's Trump, eating a taco bowl, pandering to the Hispanics. He will get his clock cleaned by Hillary.

    3. Dude, before you said that, did you check the internet to see if she's been wearing leather at her other stops? Did you notice I said "lately" and not just "yesterday"? Here's a ticket to the clue bus.

  7. With TRUMP, America will come FIRST. With Hillary "IT'S MY TURN" Clinton, America will come in LAST. You have a choice to make, it's TRUMP 2016.

    1. Trump says a lot about Veterans, that means a lot for me. Perhaps some day they will find the 12 from my outfit who are still missing in action. It's been 51 years now, I am always hoping, their families could use some closure.

    2. I think Trump is a screwball BUT I may vote for him. My reasoning is the radicals have taken over everything excluding common sense so we get the tird world San Francisco where druggies and screwballs run things.

If we choose a reactionary to offset the radicals who have infested San Francisco we may get mainstream. Think about it. You have an immigrants rights rally they city does nothing about - the feds come in and arrest all of them for deportation - in this instance we return to normal...

    3. Anyone who votes for Trump is truly an ignorant messed up person. He's the most unqualified candidate ever and acts like a childish brat. Hillary's far from perfect but will make a much better president than this POS.

    4. Trump is my guy. And I voted for the Democrats for most of my adult life (from '86 through and including '08, with a few votes for Independents for non-Presidential offices).

The Democrats proved to be at LEAST as bad as the media propaganda machine makes one believe the Republicans have been when they gained full power in '08 (Presidency, House, and Senate…). Unfortunately the Repubican "leadership" would seem to rather have idiots like Romeny and/or Ryan or Rubio than a real leader who listens to the people and knows what is best for the country.

Trump 2016. Make America Great Again. (You know, the country that put humans on the moon, that did the most to defeat tyranny in the 20th Century, and that has helped so much with health and sanitation throughout the world… or, as has been said "What have the Romans ever done for US?")

    6. 11:05 Trump doesn't care about vets. Jeez, don't you recall his put down of McCain??? July 20, 2015 from the sainted Fox News website:
On Saturday, Trump said McCain, a former Navy fighter pilot who spent five-and-a-half years as a prisoner during the Vietnam War, was a war hero -- but said that's "because he was captured."

"I like people who weren't captured," he said.
When he found he had stepped in a pile on shit on that one he tried back tracking but couldn't pass up a dig at McCain as a "failed politician". He was amusing up to that point, then he became an ass.

    7. He was simply saying McCain has used the fact that he was once captured to get where he is in life whereas others made it without that narrative to build themselves up. McCain is far from perfect and I believe had gotten mouthy. It's akin to Hillary using the woman card and Obama pandering to the black community.

  8. Hello 6:42 I was a Naval Aviator during the Vietnam war. They always tell you to take your dog tags with you when ever you are in the combat zone, so when you die they know who you are. I went out on missions when we were told to leave our dogs tags in the barracks, near our personal belongings!! This Veteran votes for Trump!!
