BREAKING: 415 Media: 'Civil War' at KTVU; As Sweeps Begin and Super Bowl Nears, Internal Major Issues at 2 Jack London Square; Fox Killers

'CIVIL 'WAR at KTVU!

*The "haves" and the "have nothings"

*Major disconnect between "star" anchors and photographers --key newsroom personnel also less than pleased with "anchor divas!"

*Frank Somerville gets heat from rank and file over station's over-the-top FOX shenanigans --he says NOTHING. "I just work here" --only power brokers at 2 insist Somerville has most influence over management and doesn't raise hell--even while telling everyone on the outside he's "sick" about station direction.

*All signs point to hellish February sweeps ; industry observers says "one bad book and HEADS WILL ROLL!"

*DEVELOPING...

  2. I have watched KTVU News for years however lately I don't. FOX has ruined this station forever. The problem is the bay area does not have a decent news station now. KGO, KPIX and KRON all suck as well. I am getting to the point of not watching local news at all which is a sad situation...

  5. Guess which local station will be carrying Super Bowl LI in 2017? Just saying that if this gets any uglier, local Supe coverage of the Houston-based NFL Final next year could be the worst ever. Might as well deliver as many Lieberman rants as possible toward JLQ between now and next February.

  6. Per the photo -- this is a conceit that got really old really fast -- the Instagram-type photos of news teams that are pandering-ly trying to show the folks as hip types who just happen to get together to give you your news.

  7. Frank has no power, and he knows it. Dennis Richmond would frown and managers would quake. Frank ain't Dennis. Dennis was SHAFT! Frank is shafted! Big difference, you dig, my man?

  9. Rich, all the stuff is starting to repeat. This market is too small and dull. I'd go national.

  11. Frank has no power because nobody watches news anymore. Dennis was KTVUs bread & butter... it was a different era. Frank is easily replaceable... and he knows it. Why would you expect him to wage a war against management for photogs, who are in a totally different union (or have they abolished the union there?) Regardless, he's best to stay under wraps. I'm sure if there was a contract negotiation gone wrong at KGO you'd expect Dan Ashley to lead a charge against Disney, right? I can see him now with a picket sign at 900 Front. Your expectations are laughable.

  12. Frank's hair plugs have more power at KTVU than Frank Sommerville himself.
