Does Anyone Read The San Francisco Examiner?

I ask, does anyone read the San Francisco Examiner?

The last time I took a look at the SFE, the print edition, was when someone left one on a BART train I was riding into the city and I glanced at the sports section. The other part not so much and not because it resembled some local tabloid-style journalism, it was just nothing of interest jumped out and moved me. Big deal, I'm not that moveable.

Like most newspapers now the Examiner is trying to attract eyes with its Internet edition. There's some interesting content and not so interesting content, a testament to the power --good and bad, of the digital world which long ago kicked print to the curb and beaten it to a savage pulp.

What else is new?

  3. I read the print edition online each day to see how bad it is. Not nearly as readable as it was 4 years ago. The digital edition has missing pages many days. This past Sunday the digital edition wasn't uploaded until around 4pm.

  4. I see it a few times a year. It's not as bad as it could be, in today's times. I'm surprised it exists at all. Some people there are trying, and today with print newspapers that's worth something. The San Jose Mercury News is the real waste of paper and ink.

  5. I read the Examiner E-Edition, but since they have changed the format you can not get archive editions online, or flip the pages like you use to?! Its an "ok" paper online, the Examiner reports things that occur in the City that sfgate, or the Chronicle doesn't.

    1. Archive editions are still available online and you can flip the pages. Once you launch the current edition, there is an archive tab on the left.
This is the direct link to the Examiner E-Edition:
