  2. Yup. Could this be step one in a move to eliminate field reporters, replaced by reports from the field from viewers on social media? (pardon me but) "stay tuned".

    1. Half the newscast is already "viral videos" all freebies.

There was a time when news photogs made 100k or more in the BA.

  3. Come on...this is an age old ploy by management to discover who is watching their station.

    1. And give a few characters their 15 seconds of face time and "fame."

  4. This way Roberta can stand in the middle of the frame for a full-on frontal shot- maybe a PA can add a graphic with her name throughout the weathercast...

  5. Leo Ciolino did the same at least 25 years ago. This isn't new or uncommon.

  7. The whole thing reminds me of Romper Room when Miss(insert name here) whatshername would show the coloring pictures of the 5 year olds.

"Here is a pretty sunset from Leroy of Walnut Creek".

    2. Romper Room was a franchise.
In LA it was Miss Mary Ann.
BA was Miss Nancy except in Marin where he name was...

  8. How bad is the Internet hurting traditional TV?

Supposedly, we are in an economic recovery, BUT…
in Canada, nationwide losses from traditional television operators in 2013 was $2-million. In 2014, the number was $138-million. U.S. numbers are similar, and they’re spiraling for the worst in both nations.
