Breaking: KTVU News Crew Robbed In Hayward; Camerman Knocked To Ground; Tara Moriarty Witnessed Take Down

A KTVU News crew were robbed in Hayward on Wednesday morning.

The crew, with reporter Tara Moriarty witnessing the robbery, wasn't hurt but a cameraman, Keith Crook was knocked to the ground according to one of my sources.

It isn't known whether the crooks were armed. But they made off with a ton of equipment and camera gear.

This latest robbery in Hayward is nothing new to KTVU which has seen some of its reporters and crew having been involved in takedowns in the past.

Police have no suspects in custody.

    1. Yeah, it never happens in SF, sure: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/tv-news-crew-attacked-robbed-in-san-francisco-again/

    2. Oh, SF is a pit these days too, but it seems portions of East Bay are worse.

Though I'd imagine downtown Walnut Creek hasn't had this happen yet... would that make shots from the fountain more palatable to folks here, if it were a more dangerous location?

    3. Happens in San Jose too.

    4. 10:53 obviously is unaware of the thuggery that permeated a lot of the downtown walnut creek nightclubs. Beatings, muggings, knife fights. Look it up. It all happened right up the street from the fountain...

    6. Not only that, to the jackass at 10:47, the equipment was tracked to San Francisco.

  3. Rich ignored the last two times this happened in Oakland but is more than giddy to mention when it happens in SF or outside of O Town.

  4. Good thing a reporter was a witness. She should be able to give a very detailed description of the assailants.

    1. anon at 11:26am, with O&O's in LA, NY, DC, Detroit and at one time Boston, I don't think this thing comes as a surprise to Fox.

  6. Wonder why Rich isn't more gleeful about KTVU's misfortune? Seems like his life is dedicated to ridiculing them and celebrating their problems.

  7. The so called "news authority" has bumped heads with the "crime authority"

  8. I don't think this kind of thing is isolated to any region of the Bay Area. There are good and bad areas all over the place. I've lived in Alameda, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties and each area has its more affluent and deprived pockets.

  12. A guy named Crook gets robbed by crooks?
Lieberman once again making up fake news stories for his failing website.
    KTVU should sue him.

  13. And you wonder why there are no funny conservative comedians. Because they don't exist.

    3. I agree with 3:17. I get a good laugh, every time I hear some conservative bozo talking about the Earth being 6,000 years old. Or that there's no such thing as global climate change.

While ignorance is a curable ailment; stupidity is forever.

  14. Trib is reporting they tracked the equipment to SF via gps but no mention if they found it or the robbers.

  15. This is not a big surprise. There are more desperate people out there in this country than at any time since the Great Depression. There are also way too many dysfunctional people from broken families and bad circumstances than ever before. Those that don't have at the minimum, a college degree don't have very good prospects for the future. So the ones who are really messed up turn to a life of crime, and these are the kind of situations you get. Sad, but true!

  17. Detroit's crime rates have fallen significantly since the acceptance of concealed carry permits. The bulk of californians want a nanny state where the police will protect them. The reality is the overburdened police departments show up to write reports once the smoke has cleared.
