KGO-TV's Ace Reporter: Lyanne Melendez; Steady Vet at 900 Front

She doesn't get a lot of attention nor seeks it. So she'll probably hate this post but I like Lyanne Melendez, KGO-TV's veteran reporter.

Not flashy or gimmicky just steady as all get go and consistent. A terrific street reporter, one of the best in fact. She reminds me a lot of Rita Williams, the legendary correspondent who recently ended a great three-decade run at KTVU.

  1. I love Lyanne Melendez. She's really good on the education beat.

  2. This is what Lieberman does. He praises nobodies, not because he really likes them but because it gives him cover to turn around and criticize everyone else, anyone who has actually succeeded in the business.

  3. Love her. Great reporter role model for young women in. No tossing the hair, no cutsie coy delivery, just top notch reporting.

  4. I wholly agree.

I think that the same can be said for Lyanne's former colleague, Heather Ishimaru ... whom I hope is making great progress toward recovery from her stroke.

  5. I agree - I've always liked Lyanne. No-nonsense. I remember back when she first started, tho, she had huge, "BIG HAIR".....she's matured and is comfortable now in her own skin (and hair)...

  6. Saw her once in Berkeley--she was doing a remote, and stepped into Games of Berkeley on her way back to the TV van. She had a wrapper or something stuck to her shoe; I pointed it out to her before she got in. She removed it and thanked me. Nice lady; even hotter in person.

  7. Rich, can't agree with you more. I was thinking the same thing last night, after I happened to catch her live shot. Always prepared, always salient, professional, and solid.
