  6. Frank Somerville, Gasia Mikaelian, Ken Wayne and Dan Ashley. All high quality anchors who simply read the news and don't dumb down their viewers with silly chit-chat. An added plus is that they have the ability to read the news without repeatedly dipping their heads to emphasize every sentence.

What are you talking about? Frank chit-chats all the time, plus he gives us that sad voice with a slight catch in his throat for the really sad stories, like a four-year-old killed in Oakland because he was run over while attending a sideshow.

      You're far too obvious.

  10. Ken Bastida; so solid. Frank Somerville; total pro. Carolyn Johnson; why KGO let her go I will never know. Future advertising revenue in her slots cannot be the same without her.

  16. I don't watch nightly news but do mornings. I used to watch KGO but I thought Kristen Sze was too contrived and acted like she thought an anchor should act. I don't like female anchors who nod in deferential agreement with the male anchor, which she does. The weather reporter and traffic reporter for KGO are good. I usually watch KPIX and Michelle Griego and Frank Mallicoat are the ones I watch most. Mallicoat has a Ron Burgundy air about him sometimes. Their fill ins are good too. Their weather and traffic not so good. I'd watch KRON in the morning if it weren't for Darya Folsom. I think the two male anchors, Mark Danon and James Fletcher. Anny Hong is much better than Darya and I wish she was permanent.

    1. I second it. Anny Hong is much better that D Folsom. I don't understand what she brings to the party.

    4. Love Michelle Griego on PIX at noon. Mallicoat is decent. Only down side of the show is when Roberta Gonzalez comes on. Prior to the Belgium/USA World Cup match, she was on location at a sports bar in San Leandro. Before she got to her interviews and the weather, she had to tell us what a big soccer fan she was -- "I worked for a professional soccer team in San Diego and I attended the World Cup in Italy." Who gives a rat's ass?? Same old self promoting from Roberta.

    5. My wife was a communications director for a local food bank. Of course, during the winter holidays, local stations partner in food drives. She said Roberta Gonzalez is a nasty piece of work until she gets in front of the camera. Then she's everybody's friend. I get that you have to be business - but I think that most newspeople, or anybody in the media, for that matter, can get an over-inflated view of themselves. Pond and fish, ya know.

  19. Initially I had some reservations about Raj Mathei moving from Sports to News but he's made a seamless transition and now is among My Favorite Bay Area TV Anchors along with Ken Bastida, Dan Ashley and Pam Moore.

  20. Darya reminds me of the MILFs we see pub crawling on Friday and Saturday nights in Danville: too much makeup, too much jewelry and too many structural add ons to their physique, thinking it will make them look younger.

  26. Bastida needs a wake-up call. He has stopped working. It may be nothing that cannot be fixed but he is the one who must make the repairs. Listen to him read copy. His emphasis is often wildly off, the mark of someone seeing the words for the first time as they scroll down the prompter. Late scripts are not an excuse. An anchor should be conversant in at least the small number of stories assigned to others to write and for him to read. All he has to do is to pay attention for just a little while before each show.
