Fired KTVU Producer Belstock Lands New Gig at KPIX

Brad Belstock, one of four KTVU staffers fired over the Asiana fake pilot name gaffe has landed a new gig at KPIX, the local CBS O and O, according to one of my broadcast sources.

Belstock is set to be a new KPIX freelance producer --he is due to start next week.

  1. He's a great guy-- good to hear he's back in the saddle.

  2. Good. I thought this might actually happen sooner but I don't know how TV stations hire around here. When you look at what happened this guy was by far the most likely to get picked up since he didn't even have anything to do with the actual mess.

  3. Good for him. He'll move up fast over there.

    1. Why do you say that? The best people last a month there. The evil people (Fritz Lichty, Dawn DeAngeles, Daniel Webster, Lisa White) go on and on, destroying careers and people.

    2. @9:17 I said that because he's a smart guy. He'd move up fast in most places. I used to work with Fritz and Lisa White, both are nice people. They're not evil at all.

  5. Glad to hear it. Tori Campbell should not have a restful night's sleep until ALL four get another job! If she had any class and character, she would have thrown herself under the bus with them. I DO NOT want to have a KTVU intern or a member of Tori's family post that "anyone could have made that mistake." NOT!!! Only the brainless could have done it.

  6. He's smart, talented and conscientious, not to mention just a real nice guy. He never should have been let go in the first place. This is great news!!! He's a real pro!

And he's at PIX, which means they'll chew him up and spit him out the backside. Poor guy.

  7. Out of the frying pan and into the inferno. PIX is even worse than KTVU.

    1. Many of the freelancers at KPIX work full time. They don't get the benefits though.

  10. Nice pick up KPIX even if he is only working a couple days a week for you. Your newsroom is getting a real pro that will infuse some energy and passion at the same time.

Fritz, Dawn & Webster were all pretty cool to work with. I'm still at 'PIX today...and what I would give to have those three back--instead of the zillions of bozos we currently have in "Middle-Management Hell."

Just curious: Why do you call them "evil?"

  12. 5:36: Many other good people have tried. KPIX is where passion goes to die.
