Taking care of Mom; Off for a Few Days

My Mom took a pretty bad fall --we thought she was OK until the pain began to worsen today and I took her to ER at Summit Hospital in Oakland.

She broke 5 ribs and nearly a 6th.

She's in pain, (understandably), but in 4-6 weeks, God willing, she should be OK provided she follows instructions. She's walking and her vitals are good, but the ribs are a sensitive area for anyone, let alone a 90-year old lady, but a real trooper, my Mom, she will make her way out of this.

I'm going to take a few days off.

Thank you all for understanding.

A special thanks to all the ER doctors and nurses at Summit/Alta Bates Hospital in Oakland, especially, Sarah, who attended to my mom and comforted here.

 Nurses are the greatest.

  13. broken ribs hurt like hell and there's not much you can do about it except wait weeks for some healing and be sure she gets plenty of good pain meds.

  17. Rich I am glad you are helping your mom out. My dad is 93 and mom is 90 and every day is an adventure for them! Luckily, they have 24/7 live in care, but my sister and I try to get over and help and visit as much as possible. Hope your mom feels better!
