Tolbert joins Roye as Color Analyst on Warriors' Radio Broadcasts

Tom Tolbert of KNBR will join Tim Roye as a color analyst for the Warriors on ten radio broadcasts beginning early next year.

Tolbert's first broadcast will be the Jan. 2 game against the LA Clippers.

Tolbert will continue to host his PM drive show on KNBR. He's had previous TV stints on ESPN and ABC.

    1. Unfortunate that Stan judges people only by their skin color.

Obviously Stan is no Martin Luther King who dreamed of " a nation where [children] will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

    2. Shut up with your republican spin. KNBR judges only white to have content, you idiot.
Yeah,Tom is getting another job when anybody new with talent isn't. Get it? Lee Hammer and Cumulus..who are they kidding?
Its a good thing Raddy doesn't need his wife to get hired at KNBR. They couldn't slam the door in her face fast enough.

    3. Obviously Stan is no Martin Luther King.

Most people these days don't think about skin color in the way Stan does. Seem to recall that KNBR replaced Gary Plummer with Eric Davis for 49er games and no one (in their right mind) thought anything about it. Likewise Tolbert is a great addition for Warrior games.

    4. from 'Stan's Lobotomized Guide to History' (2-ply prints available)

MLK aide, prior to Dream speech: "Dr. King, this speech is the most moving argument for colorblind fairness I've ever read."

MLK: "You may think that, but in reality this speech was written by some Republican hacks looking for something to spin so as to keep black folk down. But I'll be getting a nice check for reciting it."

    5. Only an idiot like you would try and spin that I'm, anti MLK..and the near all white sports stations are so integrated. You must be a teen intern..its the worst case of logic.
Just like Kerry was the coward and Bush a war hero..and of late, "More guns will end the violence",Stan is anti MLK..

Go take a long walk off of the shortest pier there is kid...

    6. Stan should learn to write intelligible English instead of clogging this blog with gibberish and name-calling.

  2. This is a GOOD move actually. Tom Tolbert is a very good analyst and already on KNBR. OK so he's white but he is qualified and was very good on ESPN. Every broadcast should have a color analyst....

  3. People here prefer to rip rather than praise but Tom was good on ESPN. He is not black but he is tall and I am short so that pisses me off!!

  5. Tolbert is better than say barkely or Mark Jackson when he was on abc dont saee just because you have a name as a player makes you a good announcer Magic Johnson being another as well

  7. I like the move, I think that Roye is a good PxP man, but he probably never played the game, so having Tolbert on there will enhance the quality of the broadcast. I wish the Warriors would have Ted Robinson be their radio guy again he is far and away better than Tim Roye

  8. How can you have a colored analyst who's white?

    1. White is composed of all colors; black is the absence of color.

    2. He played for the Warriors for one...and was a fan favorite too!

  9. In general sports is the least racist of all entertainment entities.. There are more blacks in the sports entertainment industry than any other entertainment venue. Tom is a solid, entertaining, insightful color commentator. Why ESPN let him go I will never know.. Entertain me and give me insight. I don't care what you look like..

  10. Horrible move by the warriors! With the team doing well tolbert brings the play by play down with his inmature comments, cant listen to his radio show its too much repeating internet information as first hand news.whats next marty lurie doing giants games?

  11. Don't knock Marty! At least he knows what he's talking about and likes baseball, unlike so many of the other radio, TV and newspaper guys in this area! Outside of the beat writers and Bruce Jenkins, most of the rest of the media around here are not baseball savvy.
