Friday Notes on 'Lieberman Live' Debut Nov. 24 and 25

The new show starts a week from Saturday night. We will make it entertaining and appointment radio.

I have some good guests lined up, but most of the show will be me and my takes. And I have a lot to say, just wait.

Contrary to some early rumors, NO, I'm going to refrain from ripping people in the business, at least here in the Bay Area. That's not my agenda and would become old in a hurry. And because the majority of the listeners are outside the 415-510-408-925 vicinity, it would be counter-productive.

Quick items:

-John Rothmann, the great political analyst and presidential historian will be on the Sunday show, (Nov. 25 from 9 -9: 30) I have a feeling we might talk Middle East too.

-To the jousters making fun of the power of KOMY, the station has a streaming audio site and the majority of my followers are the gist of the people that will be listening. Which means if you live in Oregon or NY, you can listen and call the show. End of story. And yes, we have syndication plans and interest. And we haven't even done our first show.

-KOMY owner, Michael Zwerling, has built me a new custom-made studio set-up. State-of-the-art supreme. Thanks Michael.

-Guests: we have some surprises in store. Just wait.

-KOMY link: here's the link to the station. I'll have it up permanently on the blog.

*RadioInk will have an interview of me on its website about my new radio show on Monday. take a look.

A QUESTION to you all: Give me some ideas as to what you'd like to hear on the show. In the end, it will be my show. But I love input too and I look forward to your feedback and feelings on the show...and don't forget: We launch on Saturday and Sunday, Nov 24 and 25 from 8-11 PM PDT, LIVE.

  1. Will you have podcasts available like KNBR does with Damon's show?

  2. I don't know if you would want to go this direction, but how about some guidelines for the future Republican President:
    1. EVERY fact used against his opponent in any ad must be 100% verifiable. No manipulation of facts.
    2. No "shooting from the lip". Every speech must be carefully and intelligently crafted.
    3. We need someone who understands biology especially when it comes to pregnancy.
    4. We also need candidates who can keep the birthplaces of John Wayne and John Wayne Gayce straight.
    5. No billionaires who should know better shooting off their mouths.
    Just food for thought.

  4. Scott Gilbert in Houston Tx. I'm looking forward to listening to you online. If your air presence is anything like your column, I'm thinking it will be a hoot!

  7. I too hope there will be downloadable podcasts of each show. Getting people to make an appointment to tune in to radio where the signal may or may not come in is such a tough sell.

Having John Rothmann on is great. The election and the middle east are prime topics to discuss but perhaps another time you can have John on and maybe discuss some "less sexier" topics like the Vice Presidents, which is his area of focus.

I also like local history so whatever you can feature that would cover that and still appeal to a broader audience beyond the Bay, I suppose. Maybe something with NorCal history or see who has a new book on this subject that would like to pimp it.

Also, maybe cover one of the most under reported stories on the election with the Puerto Rico vote for statehood.

If you have to do politics, then you must, but it seems like everyone and their mother (and mothers who own radio stations) cover that.

  8. A suggestion? and no BS..Radnich as a guest, and Bobby as a guest. I would listen-over and over. I would even listen to see what they said at why they turned you down. My guess? Raddy does agree..he works you to "bury the hatchet". Fitz? he ignore you..too insecure and he shows why he has that rep..but maybe?

  9. Rich, congratulations on your new gig! People used to say you were a wannabe because you used to be a broadcaster at K101 in the 80's. Now you are one again, so they can shut up. Good luck on KOMY.

    1. This just proves Rich is still a wannabe! Playing softball in the park doesn't make you a baseball player.

  10. At 1:52PM, why you being such a hater? I don't see Rich as being a softball player. Having been in the major leagues more than 20 years ago, he's trying to return to "the show" by getting a chance to prove himself again in the minors.

Rich, success came to you when you were a young man, but unfortunately, you've learned it is all too fleeting in the broadcasting industry. I hope you capture it again and enjoy it this time.

Best of luck on your dreams on reaching the majors again.

    Signed,
    The Shadow Nose

    1. Dear Shadow,

Please elaborate about Rich's "time in the majors"/early success 20 years ago. I'm certainly willing to be educated.

As far as being a hater, one can't help but notice the inconsistency of Rich constantly bashing everything about the business while obviously hungering for even a minor place at the table.

  11. Fantastic Rich! This should be fun, and as longtime fans of the blog, it could be a part of the revival of the local media landscape.

Quick tip: Every time you write KOMY in your blog, be sure to put the station's number on the dial after it so it's easy for readers to find. I had to spend minutes searching the blog pages to find out where it was mentioned, before going to Google.

  12. At the end of your show, don't forget to thank your listeners for trusting you, Rich.
