Occupy Oakland and Mavericks coverage; Enough! (Any Banana Sam Updates?)

Enough already!

There's about 425,000 people in Oakland. 50-100 'Occupy Oakland' "protesters", (really not part of the actual movement), and just black-hooded anarchists looking for trouble around OPD, and the coverage is just overloaded. More media than "protesters."

And yes, a KTVU news van gets vandalized and of course, we get extra team coverage. Boys and girls, can you ever, ever use some basic news judgement? A gathering of folks doesn't warrant team coverage. I know its a slow news period, which means the onslaught of drought stories, but this and the Mavericks waves installment is so tiring and repeated.

Makes you yearn for a Banana Sam update.

  1. Hey Rich, here's an idea: Turn off the tv, radio and shut down all of your Apple products and get some fresh air. It worked for Bananasam, it could work for you.

  2. Because reporting on Oakland crime is getting tired? A homicide rate 400% higher than that of SF has become old news sadly.

  3. A gathering of people does NOT mean it will appear on the news!

Witness the "Former KGO listeners" rallies last month.

    We try.

Occupy Oakland stories may not be worth much, but at least they're better than the promos oops, "stories" they ran about the X factor, three weeks every night. Shameless. And it won't help. X can't pull one third of Idols audience, has decent ratings but for all the money they've spent promoting it a failure.
