UPDATE 2: Right story, wrong station: (I screwed up)
Here's a brief summary:
In a corporate move to reorganize its Central Coast television stations, Cowles California Media Company on Wednesday laid off approximately a dozen employees from its two Santa Maria stations.
The action will take effect Jan. 13, and move the anchor desk of local evening news at both KCOY and KKFX to the company's KION headquarters in Salinas.

My apologies to KNTV.

**UPDATE: Station execs at KNTV have told me they haven't dismissed anyone. There have been reports that some Monterey TV outlets let a number of people go on Friday.

Ok...who got axed? The news director? Jessica Aguirre? Janelle Wang? Raj Matthai?
ReplyDeletePlease let it be Raj Matthai. Whoever promoted him to anchor was smoking crack.
ReplyDeleteJessica Aguirre I hope is still on, what a hottie she is.
ReplyDeletemaybe Jessica will get time to inject more crap in those lips. Wait, who else is going to be the "official pen holder"??
ReplyDeleteBut really, I hate to see anyone get the pslip. I even have friends working @ NBC. Hang in there!
Low rating will do that but I hope my favorites survive the axe.
ReplyDeleteJessica Aguirre? Yes, she should not have messed with the lips but she is still the real deal. Looks. Smarts. And a good anchor. Ratings or not, she's a keeper. A BIG Aguirre fan here.
I also like Laura Garcia Cannon. Scotty McGrew, Raj, Janelle, and even Miss Button Nipples, Christina Loren. Like them all and hope they are still there.
Jessica Aguirre looks like the Joker... Poster child for not having plastic surgery
ReplyDeleteThe NBC Bay Area morning show is ok. The traffic guy however is terrible! So I choose to go elsewhere for my morning news
ReplyDeletePerhaps this is part of what you heard. Cowles California Media owns a few stations from Salinas south to Santa Maria. They will be consolidating their news broadcasts so they're all done in Salinas. Let's just say the quality of the newscasts in this area leaves a lot to be desired.

Open mouth, insert foot.
ReplyDeleteJessica Aguirre's going to hunt you down and kick your butt, Rich.
ReplyDeleteWe all make mistakes. The transparency is good.
ReplyDeleteThere was a rumor of this move coming down about a month ago. Sucks to be a viewer in Santa Maria - they've just been hung out to dry.
ReplyDeleteWho cares about KNTV?? Let them rot! They barely know where Concord is let alone spell it!
ReplyDeleteRadar
That's okay. Half of Concord doesn't know how to spell so they're even.
