Gawker goes Ga-Ga over Leo LaPorte Sex Text; Why is there KTVU anxiety with 'That' guy?; 'The Game' 95.7 FM doesn't deliver; Thursday Round-Up

**Is this really news? I think Leo LaPorte is great on radio--as for "sexting", I just hope he didn't use an iphone. Gawker and Deadspin, 21ist-century adult, "Mad Magazine."

By the way, Laporte was one of the dismissed old KGO Radio contributors and made frequent appearances on the mattress man's show. One of his few topical "gadget" guests that was actually listenable. Now, he has something else to place on his ignore list.

**Why is there such considerable angst over at top-rated KTVU? It's fairly befuddling and downright confusing. This is the hallmark station that continually kills in the 10 PM ratings, (although is slacking in the 5 and 6PM dept.), nevertheless, why is that management fails to see who's the individual behind all the rancor? And the fact that he screws with the veteran rank and file is all the more problematic. Who knows, maybe he has pictures too.

**KCBS ran a San Jose-A's story at least 10-15 times the other day, with merely a SJ city pol only reacting giddy over a rumor, (false), that was tweeted by a USA Today reporter.

**Another Ronn Owens specialty, aided and abetted by his young dude maestro, "Jared": openly censoring callers daring to ask about you-know-what combined with the dilemma on when/if to run, "Up to 30"--if that happens anytime soon, I'll pay retail for a Temperpedic and you don't even have to deliver.

*Quick question: who are the morons that are let through the Jared jail that make it on the show? People who don't have a clue, are young, and gravitate through the local grapevine benign to the pulse--another words, prime listeners/victims of the new KGO Radio.

**If KCBS is looking for a pretty good production guy with HOF credentials, check out Mike Amatori, the latest human chopping block on the Cumulus radar, (He's been KGO's voice for two decades and was launched over to gestapo central, 55 Hawthorne. He's still working, but the handwriting is on the wall. And he/they know it.

**I was invited on KSCO to appear on Mike Zwerling's program and being the obnoxious, self-promoter I am, I accepted, (and apparently moved the needle). First off, yeah, I do try to promote this site, (after all, without funds, this spot doesn't exist), second, if some radio people have an interest in talking to me, what?, am I supposed to say no? Oh sure. Bottom line: This site has become defacto home to those in the industry and pissed-off ex/former KGO listeners who still give a damn. OK, that's my political speech of the day.

**Love those Cumulus ads looking for sales people airing right smack on mattress man's program. I'd love for him to have a guest read one of those spots!

*More out-of-town anchors are still practicing reading dry runs over at KPIX, thereby, reinforcing the rumor that something is about to happen.

*It's official: Entercom's FM 'The Game:' (95.7 FM) is DOA, sorry guys, but there is now no there there.

*Mickey Luckoff and Jack Swanson: Don't rule anything out, just yet. But yeah, only a small miracle.

*Larry Krueger: zzzzzzzzzzzzz! (Maybe Felipe Alou was on to something) and Kate Scott? (female wall paper).

FINALLY...Ronn, you can't fool the listeners--they know. None of your duplicitous letters on Facebook will make them forget. For all your disingenuous and frankly, embarrassing, off-mike, off-studio banter, they are totally hip, dude, to all the excrement you tried to feed them.

  3. To be fair, CBS, Clear Channel and other broadcasting companies also run "spots" asking for salesmen, excuse me, "account executives". This is not a "Cumulus" only phenomenon. still tacky.

  4. The part that causes me to gag just a little is when Cumulus radio describes themself in their awful help wanted commercial as a fun place to work and part of the entertainment industry. Puke on Cumulus. At least they have the decency to grandly identify Cumulus stations as such, so I'll know what stations to never listen to.

  5. Leo is syndicated by Premiere (owned by Clear Channel) he wasn't doing a local show, nor was he either a contractor or employee & he wasn't dismissed. Cumulus simply cancelled the agreement they had with Premiere. B.F.D. Who cares.

  6. Occasionally I'll listen to Ronn's program just to see how things are going. I'm noticing far fewer callers and lots more talking by Ronn, and most of those who do get on say "Great topic today/this hour, Ronn. I love your program". Many say almost exactly the same thing and they're from cities far away. And you don't hear the regulars anymore. Are these the "paid" callers? And when they say great topic, often it's during an hour when several topics are introduced to try to fill up the hour. Not many calls to the pediatrician today, but at least 2 from grandparents, not parents. Used to be grandparents knew what to do because they already raised their kids, so were these also plants?

Something else interesting today when he closed the program. "Thank you for listening, tomorrow we'll be talking to ...... And now we go to ..news (said with a hint of mocking in his tone. I think he's beginning to see how ridiculous the programming is.

  8. The FM sports channel is hard to listen to. I don't like any of the on-air personalities, especially Mychael Urban. How is Urban still on the air? His show on the FM sports channel is awful. As was his show on KNBR and his appearances on CSN. The guy knows little about baseball and even less about how to hold onto a job.
