I need your help.
They have gone to their delegates and have begun a very covert process of trying to shut me down. At first, they belittled this "little blog"as nothing more than a nuisance. A pittance in their corporate puzzle that dare gave those of you a place to vent; all of you folks-- frustrated, angry, upset people of all ages, backgrounds, race, religion, social presence a forum to air your grievances and voice your anger.
They are unhappy, apparently, that this forum continues to be safe haven to those of you blind-sided by their corporate desecration of what was once a local, reliable sounding board that most of you relied upon.
They simply don't get it. And now, they have they're little muttons going after me. Anonymously, of course. It's amazing how many "courageous" heroes and challengers are out there who cower and hide behind their computers.
Don't back down. I certainly won't. Unless you tell me otherwise. All of you have made them glance even if they still don't care. And frankly, they don't give a damn about YOU, your family, your friends, your associates. They still regard you as merely just a part of their moohlah machine.
As long as you all want this to continue to be reported, I'm still here for you.
Who are "they?" Figure it out. I don't want to give them the dignity by mentioning their names.

Who are "they?"
ReplyDeleteCan't be of much help unless we know who "they" are.
Rich,
ReplyDeleteDon't cave in. The info you provide is a necessity.
What can we do to help? Who can we go and occupy next??
I'm a reader of your blog. I don't usually post. I don't know who "they" are that you're referring to in this post, but isn't there something about freedom of speech in the US? And you're a journalist and affiliated with news organizations, so what are "they" afraid of? They don't have to read your blog if they don't want to. Since I don't know who "they" are, I'll remain "Anonymous" as well.
ReplyDeleteKeep going !!! You are the best place to find out what's going on with the radio these days.....
ReplyDeleteFuck em. Make MORE noise, write MORE embarassing facts ( cameras in the sales meetings/offices), and then tell us who their sponsors are so we can tell them to get fucked and start our own boycott campaign. Money talks and bullshit walks...
ReplyDeleteStay the course!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAs long as what you are posting here is TRUE, then you have no worries. If you are making shit up, then I hope you have a good lawyer.
ReplyDeleteYou spew and have spewed enough false innuendo to have been shut down a long time ago
ReplyDeleteDitto, wondering who exactly is "they"? And how exactly can "they" shut you down? Mob-style hit? Break all your fingers? Of course, you could still get one of those speech recognition dealies and....ahh, nevermind. Most of us enjoy your blog. If you're fishing for praise, I suppose you got it....
ReplyDeleteditto 1:53 1:54....tell us more please...what can we do...who are "they"...and how can they shut you down? Not understanding at all...please clarify...we'll do all we can
ReplyDeletePS. Need a Loyah? There will be one on 960 on the 3rd!
ReplyDeleteDon't let them silence you. They can not silence us. Rothmann told me to follow your blog....glad he did....Hope to see you tomorrow at the occupy kgo rally tomorrow night....raise some hell and pass along the flyer,,,thanks...

Let them eat shit, the spineless little worms.
ReplyDeleteWhile the Fourth Amendment has been whittled away by the powers that be, the last time I looked, the First Amendment of our beloved Constitution is as formidable as ever.
Don't cower to these imbeciles, Rich. You are the man.
Of course we want this (blog) to continue.
ReplyDeleteDon't let them try to strong-arm you.
Let me guess who is behind this?
Lee Hammer.
Gary Radnich.
Larry Baer.
The hoods at Cumulus?
The Chronicle editors?
Though I am a college-educated person who's been working in Bay Area TV news for 22-years...I grew up in "Da Hood"...and enjoy some cred whenever I go back to visit (as a guy who "didn't forget where he came from.")
ReplyDeleteLemme know who "they" is...and I can put out the word to some of my Vatos back in East Oakland/North Hayward.
The hip and chic Bay Area.
ReplyDeleteTrying it's best to censor a blog?
We tolerate diverse opinions . . . yeah right.
Only when I agree with your view point.
To anonymous writer at 2:24 - HI RONN!!! HI JARED!!
ReplyDeleteFWIW, as long as you keep this blog hosted on blogspot you are safe. Google is notorious for not taking down blogs like this one, even when they are ordered to by courts. Just keep your content true and you're gold. Whatever you do, don't buy a domain name and redirect the blog there. That is when you deal with hosting companies who WILL shut you down if they get a nastygram from a loyah.
ReplyDeleteAre they threatening a lawsuit for slander?
ReplyDeleteTime to find a good first amendment lawyer. As long as everything you've reported is truthful, they should have no case. If they sue you unsuccessfully, the judge is likely to give Cumulus a nice ass reaming.
Keep on fighting and blogging, Rich! I think our beloved talk show hosts are a lot better off being no longer employed by Cumulus. What an evil company. Things are looking up. Len and Gene is a good start. They are going to a better place where they will be appreciated and we the listeners can once again hear a variety of interesting talk, not boring 24/7 news.
ReplyDeleteWe must fight back. Corporate America has turned into an evil, greedy monster that is stomping over all of us, the little people in America.
ReplyDeleteI beleive you-the corporations DO have young Nixons troll blogs, hack computers. They seem to find post of critics as soon as they go up on any forum. Not a single A's fan supports what the team has done-but read the "beat writers" "The Athletic Nation" websites, the 95.7 and KNBR hosts and its a minor setback-or even GOOD for the team. NO CALL in's ripping BEANE OR WOLFF that I've heard. Its the trolls though that stand out-anonymous and daring in representing the corporations under the pretense of being common people. It's about money-and no lie is too big.
ReplyDeleteTHEGAME IS AS BIG A STOOGE AS KNBR..for the teams they carry. Even Dibs sold out A's fans.
let them just try to shut you down . we will make sure that you keep going .
ReplyDeleteDon't back down Rich, we're here behind you!!!
ReplyDeleteWhere is your proof?
ReplyDeleteI am sure its Ronn Owens, Jared, and that giant douche Paul Hosley. Don't they have anything better to do? Oh yeah, I forgot, they don't. They just loop news stories all day. Ronn's show on Monday will probably be: Special Edition: Cars, Cell Phones and New Year's Eve.
ReplyDeletePowers that be at the HOA that is my link here also tried to "shut it down." They have completely failed in the nearly 2 years since they've tried.
ReplyDeleteCumulus may not know, but of course the former KGO listeners do as avid scholars of the California Constitution, that the California Constitution offers EVEN GREATER free speech protection than does the US Government.
(Note to Cumulus staff: here you go:
CALIFORNIA CONSTITUTION
ARTICLE 1 DECLARATION OF RIGHTS
SEC. 2. (a) Every person may freely speak, write and publish his or
her sentiments on all subjects, being responsible for the abuse of
this right. A law may not restrain or abridge liberty of speech or
press.)
Take that you out-of-town @ssholes. You're welcome.
I am reading this column everyday, thanks.
ReplyDeleteHey Rich,
ReplyDeleteNot sure what I can do to help except offer encouragement. I see the new school media being increasingly corporate, profit-driven and dumbed down. Gone are the days of local coverage and thoughtful consideration of important complex issues in big national corporate airhead media.
That's where bloggers like you come in. There is definitely a void (practically zero local coverage of the KGO fiasco beyond Ben Fobg Torres' column in the Chron pink) in local reporting, and you fill that void as far as local media coverage.
Other bloggers cover other issues.
I'd prefer the old days when you could easily get all the important local news from one great local paper plus one great local radio station, but those days are long gone and buried, and so here we are.
We need bloggers like you to fill the void, and so the eyeballs and the ad revenue will follow.
Thanks for all the coverage and info, I check your site daily now.
Keep reporting on the idiot Dick brothers from ATL, Cumulus, etc.
ReplyDeleteI haven't always agreed with all of your opinions (I actually enjoy Radnich and Barbieri's shows...), but what you are doing regarding bringing to light some of the practices and behind the scenes BS that the corporatists are doing to the airwaves that belong to WE THE PEOPLE is crucial work.
Please, continue to fight the good fight!
Thank you for your courage, Rich Lieberman!
ReplyDeleteDear Dickey Brother Punks. Put up or shut up. Oh, and keep fanning the flames, you stupid, cowardly little asshats, because it incenses us even more.
We've all moved on, and can find alternative programming. But what continues to piss me off is that a community institution was taken away from my elderly mother and others like her.
THEY DON'T HAVE OPTIONS!
Screw you Lew Limp Dickey, and the "it's just business" bullshit you rode in on! Screw you Cumulus (lowercase) media, you heartless, selfish bastards!

Rich:
ReplyDeleteIf 95.7 can blatantly refer to Lee Hammer as the Chimp, then I don't see what is so threatening to your bog?
Check with Stanford Law Center for Internet and Society. Lots of resources there.
ReplyDeletePlease let us know what we can do. You represent a huge following of fans who were thrown away by Cumulus. What will they try to do next, silence the thousands who hate what Cumulus did? Just keep on reporting the facts and know we are behind you. Karma is a bitch and the Dickey-heads will get theirs.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good fight! And thank you for looking out for us. KGO is already a Bay Area laughing stock. They'll get theirs by huge losses cuz money is all they know... sure have no clue how to even run a third rate radio station.
ReplyDelete@3:41 Good point regarding the CA Constitution.
ReplyDeleteAs a person devoted to capitalism during my working years in Silicon Valley, I never thought I would see the day when the corporation became the enemy. There is no level playing field anymore. The coporations have a stranlehold on congress and the consumers. It has become all about We The Corporations and the hell with We The People.
if ever one needed a definition of delusional, look no further than the author of this blog, this man is scary weird. The people he speaks of would give an ant on a shoe more time then they would consider this wacko a threat....he is good for a chuckle tho...
ReplyDeleteNeed a tin foil hat, Rich?
ReplyDeleteI suggest a countdown clock. A countdown to Ronn's contract expiring. You can even countdown how much money he has left.
ReplyDelete5:45 and 5:55 sure express themselves like Dick schills to me...
ReplyDeleteRich, I would not be surprised in the least if there was an effort to undermine you. I have read some not so veiled threats against you in the comments section. If these idiots try to shut you down contact the Electronic Frontier Foundation. They are in SF and would definitely be intetested in hearing how the Dickey mobsters and their lap dog Jared are trying to intimidate free speech. At least they have not yet banned you from entering Britain alas Dr. Savage.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good fight, Rich. Don't let the liars and weasels bring you down. You know that you're helping the real truth get out to us little guys.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget. Ronnnnnn was a degenarate gambler a few years back. He lost a fortune at the race track. No wonder he wants to keep his job, he really needs the money even though bending over for the Dickie's has soiled his image forever. Shame on you Ronnnnnnnn. I can not believe a classy guy like Evan Goldstein will go on your show tomorrow. Evan, that talk show host is corked!
ReplyDelete"SHILL" is spelled thusly...perhaps you are thinking of Schilling....a spice company.
ReplyDelete7:09, I'm sure everyone got the point, but thanks for the copyediting assistance...
ReplyDeleteDon't they have to prove they are right in court before doing anything too serious to your blog?
ReplyDeleteIf so, hahaha. I don't think people like John Rothmann would openly suggest we read your blog if it was full of lies and half-truths.
Keep up the good work, Rich. Even though I no longer live in the Bay Area, I still like to follow what goes on there, especially in the media. KGO comes in clearly at night where I live now and I like (let me change that... liked) to listen to them (not anymore...)
ReplyDeleteI don't know the "they" people that you refer to and I don't really need to know as it is not important. This country is built on freedom of speech (and, for that matter, freedom of the press of which I would consider this blog to be), and like others have said, as long as what you are speaking is truth, you just go ahead and keep speaking out. Don't let the big guys intimidate you!!
Don't worry, the Dickeys and their peons have been talking trash in house about people like Jerry Del Colliano and his blog for years. Apparently Lew has very thin skin. That happens a lot to people born with the sliver spoon up their ass.
ReplyDeleteFreedom of speech lives! If the jack monkeys who run KGO are THAT scared of you, then they KNOW they're doing wrong. It's all about money now. Greed. Greed. Greed. Keep it up, Rich. The cream always rises to the top!
ReplyDeleteHow do we help? How are they trying to shut you down? I am behind you!
ReplyDeleteRich: I've contacted you before and here I am again. Although I live on a fixed income and live on the East Coast I would be willing to donate $$$$ to support your cause. Would financial support help more than just words of encouragement?
ReplyDeleteKen in North Carolina
To all who are concerned, Please sign Sen. Bernie Sanders' petition to take back our country---it states corporations are NOT people, etc. www.sanders.senate.gov/
ReplyDeleteRich, we stand behind you and count on you to keep us informed. Take Care
Rich, if you are shut down, so be it. life goes on. nobody cares. You rip jared for no reason.
ReplyDeleteKeep fighting the good fight. We have the right to free speech no matter what "they" say.
ReplyDeleteKeep it up Rich! KGO stepped in their own s*$%. and lost loyal listeners all at their own doing. Good work Cumulus.
ReplyDelete11:10 says "nobody cares".
ReplyDelete11:10 is delusional or hasn't read the reader's comments here. We may not agree with everything Rich says all the time, but are very glad he is providing the information regarding the Cumulus shenanigans.
No, Jared needs to ripped for not doing his job and not enough of what he's supposed to do as "Hathetman."
ReplyDeleteFirst, if it was his idea to throttle Ronn Owens back by putting him on Dec. 2, he should know he embarrassed his company. It was a power grab. Censoring calls? OK, that's why screeners do. We get it. But there should have been a better way to at least treat the best employee in the building for now.
Second, instead of loving him because he's 49 and Jared's 28, Karel should have been first to go. Broadcasting on the internet to 9 radio stations about what goes on inside 900 Front Street and his opinion about his "friends" is a sacrilege.
Third, out of a tizzy, calling "outing" Jim Gabbert as being "openly gay" is not real cool, just because Gabbert said something about Karel being "stupid but entertaining." Frankly, Karel is an imbecile and is as entertaining as a cobra.
There's plenty of "good talk" at KGO, but precious time for them. Fix up Sat. and Sun. nights Jared.
Rich, worst comes to worst, get your own domain and have it hosted with a server company who is not afraid of lawyers and their hollow threats. I've lived with that nightmare in the past (site shut down on three different hosting sites due to ridiculous false claims), found a wonderful server host who didn't give a damn what some dipshit psudo lawyer was yacking about, and ignored every empty threat. Unless they contact your server host with a court order, they are only blowing hot air, but many hosting companies WILL fold immediately, as 3:00 PM stated. It only takes one jealous wackjob to make up a bunch of false claims before the nightmare starts, and once it's in motion, by the time you've contacted EFF or Stanford, the hosting company already has removed your content. Hopefully blogspot stands behind their clients and stays the course.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work, Rich!! Have been gone for the holidays and was wondering what's been happening on the KGO front. During my travels I read something in the current issue of Rolling Stone that sounds as if the same thing is happening to rock stations across the country as they are being bought up by the likes of Cumulus--they are changing formats and pissing off loyal listeners. Sound familiar?
ReplyDeleteI am a cameraman at a tv station in the bay area and I have found out more about the crap going on inside our station from you than my own people. Thank you for your honest opinions.
ReplyDeleteRich, you're doing a fabulous job keeping us informed about the former KGO. Please let us know how we can support you.
ReplyDeleteLacking any concrete details, it sounds like hype and/or paranoia.
