Little over a year ago when Damon Bruce was piping on the 1050 AM albatross, his guest was Greg Papa, (via phone).
After a few sweet nothings, Papa went into a serious defense of that all-time great Raiders first-round pick, JeMarcus Russell. Papa insisted that Russell, (who was coming off his first awful year), was in no way, done and that he could very well be a productive Raiduh. Seriously. In fact, Papa went out of his way to defend Russell. I mean, seriously.
To his credit, Bruce was incredulous over Papa's bizarre JeMarcus defense, but after awhile, all was warm and fuzzy. Bruce kept in mind that it was Pops that wanted him to appear on "Chronicle Live." Soon, Bruce relented.
And when JeBustus and/or Raiduhs talk hits "CL", Bruce was and is curiously, silent on Da Raiduhs. Gees, what a coincidence.
Then again, Papa is out of the hosting duties at Chron Live, apparently sick of the studio and Ray Ratto's sweaters and has now been moved to the outside world where both he and DBruce can mix and mingle with prime yenta, Ann Killion.
*My 95.7 FM slapdown was not in any way a thumbs-up for Knibber. They still suck, will always suck, and have only reinforced the common knowledge in this town that they are hopeless. Without the Giants and 49ers, they'd be the opening act at a Springsteen show.
Yeah,but Greg can take a joke about that.I heard him laugh he still thinks JaMarcus will make it big. "Best rookie talent " he had seen he jokes-sorta.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of the Bruce-Krueger pairing...not a lot of laughs..like a Mortuary's sports talk. Those two just dont seem to be meshing the more they are together..too much alike? At least Raddy had his little Dibbs,but Bruce isnt a "sharer".
Both are on the unlikeable side...I can see where Krueger would let his ego get a hold of him and think his brilliant mind can slur ethnics. He's Larry.
The best thing on bay area sports talk radio is Gary Radnich. That is why I like KRON 4. I love that station. Gary is off the cuff, unexpected and fun. Sure, he can be a bit over the top but not everything is great, but who is? Just another reason why KRON is better than those other stations.

ReplyDeleteGreg Papa is the best football play by play guy going. He's pretty good on 95.7 and wasn't alone in thinking Russell would/could be good.
ReplyDeleteAhhh! the lightbulb just came on!..No wonder Papa is doing as many 10-2 96.7 guest hosts duties. Today John Lund was asking Papa who his favorite guests were..then with a twinkle asked Papa who DOESN'T he like?..Papa said "I can think of a COUPLE of guys I hate" (Fitz and Brooks,huh?)..and I think came close to spilling the beans now that I recall the tone...

ReplyDeleteI doubt The Boss would want anything to do with them. Remember, this Hall-of-Fame great still calls Oracle Arena the Oakland Coliseum. You'd think he want to have a commercial-crazy outlet open for his band? I think not.
