The local 'Sweet Anchor' suing her mother; Why 95.7 FM doesn't cut the mustard; Lacob knows about Fitz; Tuesday mix

*She's been described as sweet, first-rate, and established in the business, especially here in town where she's been able to hold court for some time. She's not that big a name, but she's been able to weather several professional storms, (their's, not her's), and hold down the anchor chair.

She's also suing her mother over a few thousand bucks and apparently, not the "sweet", gracious one she makes herself out to be.

*Several of you have inquired about why I haven't written much about 95.7 FM, (The Game), and that's a pretty fair question. Here's a simple answer...

There's no there there. I have tried to listen with some degree of objectivity knowing full well that many of their "new" voices and talent sound pretty much the same. This is no revolutionary radio, far from it, in fact, and just another bloated content factory trying to stand out amidst the other gazillions of forces out there.

The morning show is dull. The mid-day sloughs are boring and dullsville, bereft of anything distinct or something truly unique that stands out and I haven't much listened to their PM show. Their "Insider" guys don't move the meter and are just filling time. I don't think I'm breaking any ground by saying that they haven't exactly set the world on fire.

And when you bring in East Coast guys who try to immediately scream and yell and force, (repeat: force, several times), manufactured shtick that comes off as gimmicky and "controversial", (even though they have yet to even know the territory), what you have is a pile of shit. Sorry, but that's what it sounds like.

Not helping matters is the A's, (who are the summer lifeblood of the new guy), are in free fall and the Raiders, (who, btw, should have and could have been helped by this site on the FM dial), are on another station neat Pluto.

Get back to me when there's something of significance to chew on over there. Right now? Test-pattern arena.

*Some of the people who count, (hello Warriors fans), are aware of the pain that little Bobby Fitzgerald has thrown your way. Like Joe Lacob, who is part of the new GS ownership. True, Rudy, aka: giggles, was given a recent contract extension by the old regime, but the new guys had little say over that matter--they were too busy surveying the real muddy waters, you know, little things, like on-court stuff.

Bottom line: Yes, Bobby Fitz is a sham; a royal pain-in-the-tuchas and a bad one at that. We KNOW that and the most important thing to know is that Lacob and Peter Guber know that too, (now), and if the current, total loathe machine out there that despises this god-awful, forkacta shilly schmuck, at least the powers-that-be know your angst.

Whether that translates into Fitz being shown the door, eventually, who knows, but believe me, he's on the clock.

  1. Once again Mr. Media why don't you name names? You are weak Mr. Media. Why not name the anchor suing her mum? And you wanted people to pay for this site? If you are going to post something then do it. Don't do it half-ass. I have a scoop for you....there is a local blogger who posts items about the media. He is weak and likes to indulge in adult beverages at Grumpy's and Tommy's.

  2. Is she an anchor on KRON 4? I love that station and hope not.

  3. Why don't you name the newsperson in the first info blip? If there are court papers filed, it's public record.

Please either name names or stay away from "bits" like this...the mouthy news guy out on the town, the sex-starved anchor hitting on all options; "bits" like this get old when no names are given, and it sounds like you are making it up.

  5. 95.7 is easier on the ears than Radnich and co.
I hope Little Fitzy is on the clock,I hope he gets fired then joins Radnich and Bruce on their show.....

  6. I dont get holding back the name either if its in court documents.
I wouldnt give Lacob a pat on the back for possibly dumping Fitz years from now..He just gave Raymond Ridder a promotion and Ridder was part of the flunkster dude fiasco trolling local blogs pretending to be a Warrior fan. THAT and doing a terrible job promoting Monta for the all star game would make you think he would be another to go. Unless,Lacob values the sleazy -pro company spy on his brother type. And,it appears he does.

  7. Even with it's hiccups, 95.7 is still miles ahead of crappy KNBR. At least they mention all of the teams in the bay, unlike the senile, blowhards on the "sportsleader."

  8. Please say it ain't Pam Moore :(

  9. I endorse all comments posted prior to this one.

And back off of 95.7. I've always found Dan Dibley to be simply unlistenable (probably not a word I'm sure but you get it). But there is NO WAY this station overall is worse than the hacks at 680. NO WAY. Having said that, you should probably abstain from shitting on 95.7 unless its preceded by a full out assault on 680. I applaud 95.7 and listen to them exclusively (except for Dan Dibley - I tune into Colin Cowherd in the early AM).

  10. C'mon Rich-95.7 in the morning-you know, its clearly better then that scripted crap on KNBR.
And,the other poster made a undeniable truth-95.7 does spread it around on local teams..with little suck upness,NOTHING compared to KNBR. The lone exception? Eric Davis spends 4 hours a day defending Jed,Trent,Jim, to the wall, with no balls. What was 95.7 thinking? He's 95.7 's Fitz and Murph and Krukow rolled into one.
YET,non 49er topics...he DOES give an alternative people of color version of life/sports. He does it light, but thats more then the other hosts can do,no fault of their own I guess.
And John Lund with Pappa blows away F&B. You GOT to admit that!. Lund alone? eh..with somebody who gives him a hard time like Papa or Urban...things are said that you dont catch on that other station.
Much room for improvement,sure...but how nice NOT to hear F&B,Ralph....BYRNES!

  11. And I vote Pam Moore too.

  12. RL, you're spot on with your assessment of '95.7 The Lame'. The one positive to come from their meaningless existence is that it's holding KBNR to account and actually forcing them to assess their talent. We're already seeing +ve lineup changes, and I'm sure there are more to come. One can only pray they include a long walk off a short pier for Fitzgerald.

  13. Hope you're right about Lacob and company becoming familiar with community sentiment concerning Fitzgerald; to summarize, abject loathing.
I've enjoyed listening to Urban and Greg with Lund on 95.7.

  14. It is truly amazing how fitzgerald keeps employment in this market, when this guy just gets killed on virtually every fan forum, blog, etc. How do his employers not see this???

  15. I like them 95.7 anti KNBR spots..the new one today jabs "Mr.B" of KNBR who still watches Matlock reruns. In other words, Ralph is now a Geritol gulper.
Fitz is soo ripe for a take no prisoners spot..what are they waiting for?

  16. The other day day Radnich-who tends to think outloud on 50,000 watts- said " Another radio station is competition and all the people here break out into sweats" Damon Bruce threw back his head-incredulous Radnich would reveal that- and quickly shouted they aren't worried or something to that affect.
Heck, pairing Raddy with Bruce tells me that they fear the,uh,Game. Beards or not.

  17. The new FM station didn't make much of an effort to bring in any local talent. Veterans such as Shrader and McGowen are available, and they also could have wooed away Bitker or Walcoff or even Kevin Radich from KCBS or KGO. But they dnt and loud mouths from out of the market and they sound like all of the of the rest of the hacks on ESPN and Fox radio. And KNBR? As you said Rich..it's still Dreck!

  18. Operative words in this anchor suing story: "she's not that big a name". So that probably rules out Pam Moore.

  19. I'm a season ticket holder for the W's and I noted in a previous comment on this blog that I have sent a letter to Joe Lacob asking that he fire that buffoon Fitz, and I can't believe it's the only letter he's received from his customers about this matter. So many people I talk to at the games absolutely hate Fitzgerald. It's actually quite astounding. It's hard to be that disliked, even if you're TRYING, so I guess the guy is just a natural.

  20. Need to give 95.7 a chance, it isn't fabulous but definitley a breath of fresh air. As for Fitzgerald, the Warriors need to make a change..,win or lose you need a professional broadcaster not a shill.

  21. Keep talking about the rumblings at KNBR. Raddy takes his vacation early. Damon looks like he enjoys Gary's seat.

  22. The local sports talk radio scene is a joke. When the best they can put on are guys like Dan Dibbley, better known as Daffy Duck, or people such as Eric Brynes who sounds as if he's trying to do a hyper-caffeinated version of Jim Rhome, or Kate Scott, who is probably being paid minimum wage, it's no surprise that people shut off the radio. Raddy has gotten old and tired, Damon is a bloviating loudlmouth who thinks his farts don't smell, the frat-boys and the mid day gigglers are not worth listening to for even ten seconds, and Ralph and Tom have gotten old and stale. About the only people who actually seem to know what they're talking about are Marty Lurie on KNBR (the guy likes to talk baseball, and does so with authority) and Greg Papa, whenever he's on the FM, which isn't nearly enough. The rest of the crew on the new FM? Know-it-all loudmouths from out of town, or 'insiders' from Comcast such as Mychal Urban (how does this guy keep getting on air jobs? He must have pictures) All in all, KNBR is bad, but no worse than the joke of "the game." And what galls me about "the game" is that they take shots at KNBR continuously throughout the day, like some know-it-all kid who shows up on the scene and thinks he has all the answers. Well guess what guys? You're not fooling anybody with your nonsense! The new FM station is mostly unlistenable. They are also saddled with the most uninteresting sports team in the bay area as Lou Wolff and his minions have done everything possible to turn off any pootential fan interest by griping about the colisuem and then trading away any decent players for a bunch of no name
    players with vanilla personalities.
Yes, KNBR has gotten fat, dumb, and lazy, but the new FM? No chance to even make a dent in KNBR's ratings.

  23. I like 95.7. They discuss all teams in the bay area unlike the am station

  24. Aha! I don't see my last post-I got it,it IS.... HER!!

  25. Lets see what 95.7 fm airs after the A's season ends. Hope they pcik up one of the NFL packages of games sportsusa or www1. KNBR still holds one big advantage that they could be heard everywhere.

The sound does not come in very clear hear in San Jose.
