CNN's Fearless Correspondent Sidner in Tripoli is Ex-KTVU Anchor; The Monday pulse

CNN's exemplary coverage of the Libyan rebels advance into the capitol city, Tripoli, featured the extraordinary on-scene reporting by correspondent, Sara Sidner. (Here's the video).

If that name and face sound and look familiar, it should.

Sidner was a weekend anchor/reporter for KTVU before leaving the Bay Area in 2008 to join CNN International in India. Sidner, in fact, covered the Mumbai terrorist tragedy in November, 2008.

Her heroic reports from the scene of the events in Libya was both remarkable and spot-on given the sheer frightening visuals of armed gunmen and heavy-duty, rapid-fire, non-stop sounds of gunshots.

  1. Props to Sara -- that is REAL journalism. She's very brave because nobody is protected in that country at this moment. Of course,if she had decided against becoming the next Peter Arnett, she could have remained at KTVU and continued to do heroic stories such as those about people trying to "beat the heat" in Walnut Creek this summer, with obligatory stand up shot in front of the iconic downtown fountain...

  3. I was unimpressed with her work in Tripoli. Nothing great or beyond what should be done. That is her job. Nothing earth shattering or grand, she just happens to be there.

  9. SIdner has always been a consistent reporter. When Richmond retired, she knew the morale ship was starting to sink at KTVU, even with the many veterans still remaining there. Brilliant move to CNN as far as Sidner goes. And yes, she is attractive. But it helps that she's a top-notch reporter to go along with her beauty.

  11. Stark contrast to the new KTVU breed, the Katsuyama hide in the hotel room hundreds of miles from the story model. Well done Sara!

  12. The reason why she looked big was that she was wearing a very large bulletproof vest.

  13. I was soooo surprised Ch.2 let Sara go, she was a credit to that news outlet. I hope one day she will return to the Bay Area, she is an excellent Broadcaster/Anchor.

  16. Some of you like waifs... some of us like em thick. Sara can get it. Oh and she's a very, very competent as a reporter.

She says "motherlover" funny however, as seen in this live clip from Mumbai. http://goo.gl/dJ5Cw.

For BEST emphatic results, the "R" should be silent and replaced with an "A" when saying "muthaluva" in anger. "motherloveR" just sounds so soccer-mommish :)

  17. Visualize the physical appearance of the cowards who would never risk their lives reporting on the haps in Tripoli..but deem it suitable to attack the physical appearance of a gutsy reporter who does ..Imagine fat guts and small...well...you get the picture.

  19. To Rich, Aug 22,2011: That was a cold comment rich. Give the Sara a break. I think she is attractive.

  20. Sara: Get rid of the goofy helmet when you are peering out the CNN building window, or on a quiet street with pedestrians moseying calmly about normal business. Let the camera crew hold it nearby. The over-sensationalism is sickening. And please, unhook the chin strap when the mud does hit the fan. The concussion of an incoming will tear your gorgeous head off.
