Radnich and the mysterious 'vacation'; away from Knibber while working at KRON

Yes, several of you noticed:

While taking his normal August/pre-Labor Day vacation at KNBR, Radnich, who usually takes two weeks off the radio show, (and TV too) is off the radio, (again), today, (Monday), but is still working at KRON.

What gives? Not sure, but something is brewing as they say in the back offices. Stay tuned.

*Meanwhile, the primadonna Hoosier loudmouth who thinks his Indiana shit doesn't stink has become an obnoxious lout, especially in the baseball press box, according to a veteran reporter. He'll soon say or do something stupid, piss off the Yorks and/or Baer and be siphoned back to the 11th floor.

And another thing, when you start pissing off your own sales dept., that can't be a good omen.

*49ers/Raiders fight post-mortem: good fodder for the talk shows and chat rooms where this type of culture provides the perfect storm of formats.

*While the gladiators went at it at the Stick Saturday night, not a word about the mayhem on the Raiders radio/TV program. Yes, Papa and Flores WORK for the Raiders so its business as usual. (And I'm a Raiders guy)

Sure, your primary responsibility is to broadcast the game--sop central. But NOT to at least mention, to acknowledge some "tension" in the stands is irresponsible.

At least Ted Robinson alluded to it, however slightly and that's what was called for.

  1. Speaking of Raider/Flores... Plunkett has GOT TO GO... He never was very good as the analyst and now that hes gotten older, he just can't keep up with Pop. His stories bog down the broadcast. They are interesting obviously as a Raider and NFL lifer, but he's just not quick enough on the draw. A Plunkett fan as a Raider but i cringe when I hear him on the broadcast.

  3. Shut up on Flores. Tom is a man of dignity. A senior that should be respected. He's the only one who has said over the years, that player SHOULD have made that play, etc, etc. And he did it walking the thin line the Raider org gives. Plummer did one season of Tom..and where did it get him?
12th floor? 1050? Bruce since the emergence of 95.7 has been even more Damonish then ever before. Is it the real him? who knows? I dont.
Radnich? changes?...Dibbs related. Since he left, KNBR has been spinning. Year's from now 95.7 hallways will have a painting of Dibbs hanging on the wall with a brass plate under it that says "Our leader". WHO would have thought the little leprechaun had it in him?."The meek,etc"...

  5. With regard to Gary Radnich's tenure at KNBR, I have a feeling that Dylan, as usual, said it best:

It's all over now, Baby Blue.

  6. It must be personal with you and DBruce. Or is it that he's young, talented and runs the best program on KNBR at least until Krueger hopefully gets a regular gig? Who cares if he po's some old crank in the pressbox? Most of those guys are fossils, except Baggerly.

  7. Here's hoping Radnich is put out to pasture.

  8. Ohh shoot... I meant Flores has to go... not Plunkett. Flores is the one with the old stories and not quick on the draw... sorry.

  9. @1032... Flores should be respected... as a senior, as a pioneering Latino in the NFL as a player AND coach, for his longevity in the game... but not as an analyst. Just being real.

  10. Whoa! Mixing Radnich with Dylan? Okayyy.

Flores & Plunkett are both pioneers as past athletes/coaches, but they are becoming increasingly unlistenable on the air. A shame.

I bet Robinson wishes he were in NY starting to prepare for US Open Tennis after the Candlestick riots. One fight was actually Niner-on-Niner between fans.

  11. 12:08 Based on your logic Muhammad Ali would make a great boxing commentator.
Flores is tarnishing his legacy by doing a piss poor job. Someone needs to tell him that he's done, in a nice, respectful way.

  12. @305. I'm the OP. I was the one calling for FLores to go(I mixed Plunkett and Flores up however). I was responding to 1032 who said Flores should be respected- to which I agree for the reasons I stated at 1208. I agree with your second paragraph... which goes to my original post. at 1032.
