I just received this text from Damon Bruce, who was removed from the 9-Noon KNBR slot with Gary Radnich:
"I have not been fired or demoted. Just back to my own show, (KNBR 1050), which is all I ever wanted."
I then asked Bruce point blank were there any other forces involved in his sudden departure, to which he said, "No--it was a mutual decision."
I doubt that. I think KNBR management reacted to negative buzz, and a few others told me they believe the Giants, (read L. Baer), were none too thrilled about Bruce' negative Giants' comments. (Although a source close to Bruce said that was not the case.)
Larry Krueger will become Radnich' new co-host beginning tomorrow.
**Developing story...
Ok, with this Bruce-Radnich debacle, KNBR officially overtakes KRON as the worst run media operation in the Bay Area..
ReplyDeleteThey have "Gary and Larry" on the KNBR website, but nothing showing DBruce for their 1050 lineup—they're still showing Dan Patrick in the noon-3PM time slot...
ReplyDeleteNot bad, Lieberman. Pretty good pass couple of scoops.
ReplyDeleteSo then gary was in town, but refused to show up to his radio program, what a little bitch. fuck him and his red face
ReplyDeleteGood riddance to Bruce. Don't care where he ends up, I finally have something to listen to from 9-12 after the passed couple of weeks. Bruce is incredibly annoying; thinks he knows everything and tries to pass his opinions as facts. Really obnoxious.
ReplyDeleteI noticed the same thing-no Damon on 1050 mention, but they already have Kreuger and Raddy posted.
ReplyDeleteIf Baer was unhappy with Bruce-how happy can he be with Latin hater Kreuger? Krueger last week had diagnosed the Giants main problems as Cabrera and Tejada!..and a slong as he was at it..he hates Tequila and Margaritas-lol..what a fool.
The man cant be more obvious.
As far as Damon's claim to beback to where he wanted to be..liar. Why did he leave to start with?..and was LOVING being televised 9-12.
KNBR..LIARS,BACKSTABBERS, AND BIGOTS...They all deserve each other.
I agree with B.A. Rich.
ReplyDeleteDisagree. Damon says it like it is. I'm a huge Giants fan, have been for 30+ years. But I want honesty, and Damon gives that to you.
ReplyDeleteGary is okay in spurts. I'm curious how much Larry is even going to say. He won't ever rock the boat again...
So,your not drivel to him anymore? I guess he must need to use you again.
ReplyDeleteRadnich is showing his true colors. I guess he feels backed into a corner and he probably had threatened to quit if KNBR management didn't remove Bruce from his show. Ralph pulled off a similar kind of a move many years ago when he was told that he'd have to co-host with Tom Tolbert. But back in those days, KNBR management still had some balls and they called Ralphie on it..forcing his hand and he stayed and it worked out pretty well for all concerned.
ReplyDeleteGary has always had his way over there, as he's got everyone in that station snowed as to how "talented and wonderful" he is.
But behind his jokes and smiles is a wolf who has managed to survive the trevails of broadcasting this many years by being crafty and expedient and aligning himself with anyone who can help him out. Gary doesn't care who he has to step on to get his way....just don't cross him because he doesn't forget. His reputation in the industry is not a good one as a result.
Poor Damon...he probably had gotten a nice pay raise and felt he was finally getting into the good graces of Hammer and Burgeroff. Now he's back to exile on a station no one listens to during 'housewife radio time' (12 noon to 3pm).
I can't believe he likes this situation or that it was a "mutual decision." Bruce must have done something to really piss off some people to get slapped down again. Damon's biggest problem is that off air he loves to brag to anyone who will listen to him about how wonderful a broadcaster he is, and how maronic his bosses are. Well unfortunately if you do that enough, the bad words eventually get back to those folks who shouldn't hear those things.
The sad thing is that KNBR has no competition in the market as the new FM is a hopeless mix of blow-hard clowns and out of town loudmouth know-it-alls. I thought the bay area would at least have one good sports station, but it just shows you how many idiots are running radio operations in the bay area these days!
I've tried on and off over the years to listen to Bruce, but I just can't stand his loud, arrogant, bloviated style. I know a few people here seem to like him, but the guy just blows, hard.
ReplyDeleteI wish they could get a one way ticket for both Bruce And Fitz back to Chicago.
Eric, "telling it like it is" is one thing. I appreciate honesty too and really hate the 'homerism' on KNBR but Bruce wouldn't just give his honest opinion, he would try to make it seem like he was a sports God and he was absolutely right about everything. And to him, any one who disagreed was an idiot or just don't like to hear his 'truth'. That type of crap is hard to listen to for 3 or 4 hours.
ReplyDeleteLet's face it...most of these clowns who have jobs doing sports radio are a bunch of nerdy little dweebish types who for years have sat on the sidelines and wished they could have been the big athletes who bagged all the babes and got all the press. They're the type of guys who couldn't get a date with a woman who's even plain-looking, so in their frustration they make stupid, sexist remarks about women, and they judge them solely on their looks and sexy behavior. Their insecure behavior and their inherent jealosy and comes out when they get on the air, and it's like listening to some stupid frat boy who thinks he knows everything.
ReplyDeleteMost sports fans that I know in this area really get tired of listening to the idiots on the sports leader" and the new, loud obnoxious guys on the new FM station, and would just love to see them bitch-slapped. To be honest, the only sports worth listening to on the radio here in the bay area is when the Giants are on KNBR, the A's on the new FM station, or the great Greg Papa is doing the Raiders. And then today we learn from Rich that Damon has been sent back to the Gulag at 1050 after uncle Gary was offended that he had to share the mike. It's all noise and nonsense! A total waste of time!
BA Rich: I hear your point, but most radio hosts are like that on some level. Fitz is guilty of it worse than anyone. He treats callers like idiots more than anyone if they don't agree with this points.
ReplyDeleteThere is only so much of any KNBR host i can take...
Fitz, (better known as 'the giggler' is not only a travesty, but a worth piece of sh.... (Just ask other broadcaster like Papa who Giggles stabbed in the back. I'm a longtime Warrior season ticket holder, and I've already written Joe Lacab that I want that guy off the TV broadcasts. I urge all other Warrior season ticket holders who feel as I do about this worthless piece of slime to to the same.
ReplyDeleteFitz is the worst, for sure.
ReplyDeleteThe Radnich/Bruce show was a train wreck from day one when Gary insisted he could have vetoed the pairing, but thought that "this will be fun."
ReplyDeleteA long term company man towing the company line.
And now he will deal with another co-host? Sounds like management is pointing Gary to the door and he just can't leave the stage.
The best part of this debacle was the return of the Dan Patrick Show from noon to three on 1050.
Good commentary, national guest interviews, and a superior alternative to the laughing gas on KNBR.
Do we lose this if Damon returns to his old time slot?
And Dan Dibley is treated like...a GOD at 95.7 He came like a messiah to evict the Montys and Sacramento rubes who came before him. He brought stability and social media to 6-10 and with Papa at 10-2..that's a solid start to the day.
ReplyDeleteAll hail the little Leprechaun!
Now,lets hear Radnich tell Dibs his wife cheats with a Mandingo.
He who laughs last, laughs best. Dibs is laughing hysterically!
