Congrats to Rita. Much better than anyone at KRON. KRON 4 reporters mainly report on the obvious. I was watching yesterday about a story from the Sierra snow and the reporter said, "...the snow will melt, eventually...", now that is news. I love it when it rains the the KRON reporters show off little puddles to show us it has rained, like we don't know what happens when it rains. Not only do we need more Ritas, we need more reporters who dig for facts and not just report what is told to them by some spokesperson.
ReplyDeleteWhatever happened to Betty Ann Bruno?
ReplyDeleteI like when she drops her anchor-reporter voice and does her native Texas drawl.
ReplyDeleteWho was Chris Harris?..could they have picked a more obscure reference to name the award after? The Rigo CHiiiiiiCOOOnnn award -that's panache!
And I'm telling ya'll Laura Garcia Cannon is getting hotter every day. She used to be the Olive Oyle skinny anchor with bad stringy hair. Now,she's curvy, hot, has that twinkle come hither look.
Her hair now looks good too.
I worked with a Chris Harris at KXTV in Sacramento back in the late 60's and early 70's. Last I thing I heard about him was that he worked at FOX in LA and had passed away several years ago. I did an Online search trying to find out if the award was in his name without any luck. Amen on the Rigo award!
ReplyDeleteJust heard about the Chris Harris reference, and wanted to chime in. Chris was not only a "reporter's reporter," he was an inspirational mentor to many (formerly young) television journalists. His instincts and ethics were always on target. He cared for, and about people, and never lost the excitement of telling a good story well. And he was big enough to acknowledge and encourage the good work of someone else. He received many awards for his work in Sacramento and L.A., and left us far too soon.
ReplyDeleteRita is a class act. By far the best TV reporter in this market.
