Warriors TV color analyst Barnett suffers serious knee injury

Warriors color analyst, Jim Barnett has been noticeably absent the past few telecasts--there's a reason.

From team PR spokesman Raymond Ridder: "He slipped and suffered a serious knee injury.  He had surgery and will return after the All-Star Break."

  1. He's probably enjoying the break from Fitzgerald; bring back Papa.

  2. I enjoyed Barnett much more when paired with Papa. He still plays competitive basketball with other retired former players. I bet he hurt himself while playing. I hope he recuperates soon!

  4. Best wishes to Barnett...thought my friends who played with him a few times said that he "played dirty".

  5. He at least attempts to be a fair minded voice, wherase his fill in Gary St.Jean,is just all out homer to the point you tune out his ramblings. See,homers over the top like Jean and Fitz, dont get why they arent respected. Its because they want it both ways-listen to us because of our background...then they lie and embelish and excuse everything Golden State of Oakland does. What credibility does Fitz have ? None. I'm sure its true as he says that his paycheck makes him immune to criticism-he never crys, but only if he's in denial that his opinion on the sport he loves is believed by anybody or has any weight and credibility. You pretty much know you've sold out when after 15 years of being GS announcer,no local sports show ever asks you a thing. With Jean,it might not matter. He's only been on air a few months..but if Comcast keeps him on..he's going to be another running joke of the media and real B-ball fans.

  6. Fits is no Bill King or Chick Hearn. More like respectable Milk Toast; but MT nonetheless.

St.Jean, the most colorful coach who literally "calls it in" as a color man?

  7. I love how people go along with Rich and continue to give Fitz crap about how bad he is. If that is the case why does he get the national football radio gigs too? He must be doing something right.

  8. Fitz gets those gigs because he's nobody to that audience. If somebody is an a-hole at home ,but a nice guy where you meet them, your non the wiser-right?
    Simple to understand.

  9. Did I mention that I went to Notre Dame?

  10. You did notice that Bill King and Papa were ALWAYS on local sports shows answering Warrior talk questions when they were top announcers. King, revered.
Fitz must be doing something wrong.

  11. Can't stand Fitzgerald, and I've always been a fan of most local announcers. My main complaint is that he was a out-and-out shill for Chris Cohan, which is about as low as you can go if you ask me. Lacob should can him.
