Amburg and Shank make for a Surreal Day

On Thursday I posted a story about KGO anchor Van Amburg. Hadn't seen him for years and wondered aloud where he'd been.

Later that night, I received notice from a friend that longtime KGO-TV reporter, Joyce Shank, (she'd worked at the SF station from 1976 through 1988 as a GA reporter,) had passed away suddenly from a heart attack.

Needless to say, I was shocked. I mean, here I was, posting an innocuous Amburg story and out of the blue comes word that Shank, who worked along side Van, had died.

Surreal.

Absolutely puts everything in perspective as it should.

And if ever the phrase, "Truth is stranger than fiction" was apt, Thursday's news confirmed it.
