KGO Radio, which last week announced it will once again broadcast a "
Noon News" will go with both
Jon Bristow and
Chris Brecher as anchors.
Both Bristow and Brecher are veteran KGO people. Bristow is a reporter/anchor and Brecher is co-anchor of the station's PM newscast.

... And what about Len Tillem????!?!!?!?!?! KGO = Hell in a hand basket.
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean Len Tillem is out on weekdays?
ReplyDeleteBay Area radio needs a real news team like the one at KFI in Los Angeles. Compare to KFI all others look like a high school news team.
ReplyDeleteLen is great. And what a joke that KGO only broadcast 1 of 2 Leo Laporte's show on the weekends.
I believe Len Tillem is taking over Dr. Dean's 1-2 weekday spot.
ReplyDeleteThey don't come better than Jon and Chris. Jon is a veteran reporter having covered rape, mayhem and murder forever and reporting on it with the right mix of seriousness, inquisitiveness and good humor. Chris, also a veteran reporter and lawyer ..smart as a whip, attentive to detail,fluff-less and grown-up ..I'm delighted!
ReplyDeleteThis is an unfortunate change. KGO's strength is talk shows, not news (other than its coverage of occasional breaking local stories). Dean Edell is a great voice for science, and his live 1 PM show will be moved to less popular hours -- Saturday 1-4 PM and Sunday 6-8 AM. During the fall, most of Edell's hours will be lost to Cal football.
ReplyDeleteNever ceases to amaze me that radio and television management are always trying to fire and hire, all in the name of ratings. In the process, the quality of reporting drops significantly.
ReplyDeletebristow is great. brecher, blah
