Holmes had been thought by various industry observers to be an up-and-comer at the Oakland Fox affiliate, but the combination of her salary, (about $200,000) and sudden disapproval by upper suits brass made her expendable.
She joined KTVU in 2006 after working several years in New York and word emerged that she may be heading back east to join a station.
Happy to hear that. I find her sing-song way of reading the news to be annoying.

ReplyDeleteWhen in the heck are they going to get rid of Dave Clark? The way that guy delivers the "Mornings on 2" news drives me up the wall...I don't even bother to tune in any longer...Btw, WHO TALKS THAT WAY?
ReplyDeleteAnother good one gets away. I think she is the complete package when it comes to news readers/anchors and she will be missed. She did a great job at the Jerry Lewis Telethon back on Labor Day. I'm sure she'll land on her feet where ever she goes. I just wish we could keep her here in the Bay Area.

ReplyDeleteAward winning? She reads the teleprompter like a robot. Why does she smile when reading serious news? It's very annoying, especially when she's reading a story about a child who has died.

I saw the job posting online. Well, that will save me some postage as they are obviously looking for a woman. Well, they are looking for an anchor and anchor/reporter maybe I should send after all. Heather was so-so. I'll keep this mild. I just found her VERY pale skin to be distracting. Why not get a tan? Spray on? I don't watch the morning news either. It's pretty obvious that Dave an Tori don't care for each other. Makes for very uncomfortable viewing.

ReplyDeleteDave Clark looks like he's in excrutiating pain from yelling at us by reading the words on the prompter. Can't hang with him at all so early in the morning. As for Heather. UP, UP AND AWAY. Having lived in a small market for the past 50 years, i.e. Salinas/Monterey, I've seen my share of prompter readers come and go over the years and many have moved to the Bay Area stations. Much like the Salinas/Monterey market is a stepping stone for the Bay Area News market, I guess KTVU is also a stepping stone to the big NYC market.

She always has a plastic smile whatever the news...even when reporting on injuries, death, or other disaster. There are a few reporters who behave in this same manner, but she is the most noteworthy (in a negative way). Not sorry to see her leave.
