Krukow calls Zito a clown; Taliaferro calls Obama a disgrace; Thursday PM

**Mike Krukow called Barry Zito a clown on Wednesday night's Giants-Dodgers telecast.

Giants brass, including Larry Baer on Radnich, insisted Krukow's crack had to do with the fella that threw a beachball on the field at Dodger Stadium; yeah, and I'm Bill Gates.

**KGO's Ray Taliaferro, one-man theatre of the absurd, went off early Thursday calling POTUS, Obama a "disgrace." About 5x. Screaming, ranting, acting we'll, very Ray-like, he suggested "Michelle, you 'outta 'kick his ass...really."

Normally with Ray, you take things like this with a grain of salt, but Ray was pissed. Ratings ploy? Maybe, but he's got 30+ years at KGO, which is nearing buyout time.

**Someone suggested that Krukow 'could be banished to KNBR 1050 for his anti-Zito remark. No way, 1050 is more like a Pelican's Bay. I'd counter he's close to becoming an INSIDER.

**Radnich on Thursday: "I love Dan", (Dibley) 6x.

  1. If you had been at the game you would have seen a Dodger fan throw a beach ball at Zito as he was leaving the game, that is the clown Krukow was referring to.

  2. In watching the broadcast night, I inferred that Krukow was steamed about the beachball; he and Kuiper both revisited it and explain it away, so I guess I had the minority opinion on the Krukow remark.

  3. When Krukow made the comment (barely audible) I, too, thought it was aimed at Zito because he was steamed to have walked his last batter and couldn't get out of the inning. The camera was on Zito as he came off the mound quite animated. BUT, Kuiper made it clear when they came back from the commercial break that Krukow was referring to the guy throwing the beachball. Way to stir the pot, though, Rich.

  4. I have no idea why so many media guys (marginal media guys, at that) thought that Krukow was calling Zito a clown. I watched the game and he was not referring to Zito, at all. You marginal guys with chips on your shoulders like to stir the pot. It was about a beachball. Krukow mentioned Dodger fans throwing beach balls more than once, and no, the camera never did show them (as they refrain from showing bad fan behavior on camera). He praised Zito to high heaven all night long, saying how beautifully he pitched and deserved the win. Krukow is one of the biggest Zito supporters out there. He defended Zeet when he was having his bad times. Zito was just emotional, that's all. He was blaming himself, not Bochy, and even said so in the postgame. It happens. The Dodger games are way more intense than other games, it's like it was back in the 70s again. The Dodger fans abuse the Giants players and vice versa. The players have bad blood. Since when has Timmy been into throwing at guys? Yet it looks like he tried to with Kemp the other night. Same with Zito being extra intense about wanting to pitch better to get the sweep. Get over it, Krukow did not call Zito a clown. People like you and other periphary media figures are the one calling Zito a clown, not Krukow. You're entitled to your opinion.

  5. If Ray is ragging on the President, maybe I should be listening. That would make good radio!

Only 6x? Gary must have been sick.
